Well to turn down the volume a little....there's a lot going on there that I disagree with, so my short answer is "no," and I agree it's not going anywhere. With 10's of millions of people voting for each party, there are millions on both sides that don't fit your list above - heck, we have several people just in this thread who clearly don't fit in those boxes. That's all I'll say about that.
I suppose to get really basic, a lot of it comes down to:
a) the importance one places on STAUNCH capitalism for the masses (always excluding the upper echelon wealthy and large corporations)
b) level of commitment to one's party/party lines
c) level of trust in a party's narratives
I don't have much gas in any of those tanks. "Your mileage may vary"
