Did anybody hear this ??? Nasa plans on Nuking the Moon on Oct 9th ??

look folks heres the deal ..and all those that don't give a crap ....."YOU BETTER" !!!

think of this for a minute ...stick with me now...

they said that they expect a plume of dust that will go up 6 miles ....nice eh ..now howabout this .....last time I checked the Moon has like zip for gravity right ....you still with me ..so this 6 miles up worth of who knows what goes into it atmosphere kinda like what we would have ......a few months later the whole moon is covered in this sh1t .....

Hello !!!! no more light at night .......like the moon already plays a role in the Oceans etc ..can you fawkin imagine a world with no moon at night ???...and for how long ???

society would cave in on its self ...I am telling you that this will be far more drastic than
looking for space dust .

I see this as a big problem

come on people wake up ...I showed this story to my kids last night and they got the picture ....

Dude....the moon has gravity. The dust will come back down. It's 384,403 km from Earth....the dust ain't coming here. The surface area of the moon is roughly the same area as Canada. One bomb in the middle isn't going to do much....make a big ditch so the scientists can study. You and your kids will be fine. :D

What purpose would blowing up the moon serve? This is something that you can't just undo.
From what I understand they will detonate a small blast and watch it through telescopes to look for traces of water and other chemicals in the debris cloud.
This "Massive Blast" relates to an average comet plowing into the moon which happens frequently without causing rutting elk to lose concentration and forget what they're doing at the time.

H2SNOW...You know I usually have your back on most discussions but on this one????

You really do sound like a boob!:D

Doesnt the moon have gravitational effects on the earth with the oceans & sh!t? Let them disrupt it & we can all float to work instead of comuting. Just think of the climbs I could pull with my M6 out west. Sweet :eek::D

mmmm boobies :D....

well ....sh1t could happen ..just sayin:face-icon-small-coo

I'm all about blowin up the moon....aint gonna change the production of whiskey, people are still gonna grill. Can you imagine what that cloud of dust would look like at night when the sun hit it? hahahha would look like a moon fart, or queef whatever, I dont know what gender the moon is.

Maybe we will know very soon!:moon:

another series in "the space race".. its just to show how long/ accurate they can bomb something. Maybe they should drop a couple here on earth... bring are troops home and show the nation what they are going to do to the moon..

are you guys serious? Who gives a crap? Why would we do this? Won't make a difference in the world?

Can y'all see the end of your own noses, cause you seem pretty blind to me. This is one of the first steps in getting people to Mars. Figuring out how we can employ the moon in the best way for staging purposes. Getting to Mars should be the forefront of Nasa/the space community.

Screw it...I feel like I'm talking at a herd of cats. If you honestly can't see what benefits we have already recieved from the space program, there is no way to show what gains we will reap in the future.

X2.

I'm sure you know better than the astronomers, physicists, etc. with IQ's of 160 at NASA.

Some of the nonsense posted on this forum never ceases to amaze me.

There's a huge difference in detonating a small bomb to remove a relatively small piece of the moon's crust and "blowing up the moon using a nuke".

THAT'S IT!!!!!

dude its the ultimate can shoot....pick off stars and planets and such....bonus for moving targets like asteroids and comets.....F'n A count me in!

Its so funny you say that. Alot of the reasonings that scientists come up with never cease to amaze me!

ummm, hate to be the bearer of this kinda news, but stars, planets, and moons move...pretty much everything out there is moving in some fashion or another. So, no bonus points for "moving" tagets, and -1 for your astrophysics knowledge. :D:beer;
