Just curious as to your thoughts on this product.... thinking about putting one on my TM8.

1. Freeze ups? does the mesh freeze up with some snow on top in deep pow days?

2. does an excess of snow get under the hood on deep pow days fallign through the mesh?

3. how does the hood hold up when you roll it down the mountain? not many hoods hold up but thought i'd ask...

4. weight savings?

5. how do you run with no pod or headlights? My 8 won't start unless the entire assembly is plugged in...?

6. has anybody built there own pod holder because Diamond S's pod is gross!!!

Any pics of hoods on sleds is appreciated.

Thanks,
Ryan

Good luck getting a hold of them, Me, Michelle(FreeAgent) and Brad Story have tried to contact Diamond S for two weeks now and no one can get through to them and they aren't returning phone calls.

Really... hmmm Are there any other companies that build a similar hood? So pretty much nobody has anythign bad to say about them? what about running no headlight assembly? what do you do with the electronics? and what about when it gets dark on the ride down the trail? lol

if you look close at my second pic you can see the light i have mounted. to the hood. it isnt very bright, but it works

what about getting hte machine to run without the stock headlights? because with that assembly unplugged... my sled won't start.... or do you just wire everything back in... I see you have your pod mounted on your bars... where do you put your boost guage? and your A/F or EGT guages? I am tryign to figure out how to work it all so i can put hte pod the way you have it... i just dont' think i have room haha.

never had a problem with starting, the light is on a quick connect so you can take the hood on and off, I have a pic on my other computer of the boost and air fuel gauge I will put up after

R&M

R&M lightening products also makes a nice hood. Not as "cool" looking as the diamond S but build quality looks good and you can order an optional gauge pod, headlights, and windshield.

The hoods are great. I have had exceptional luck with Scotts hoods. His service has always been stellar.

good hoods, they probably save 10- 15pounds over a complete stock hood , the only place snow seems to get in as at the very front and the back, where there are openings which isnt really a big deal, i have never rolled my sled with the hood on but i did end up putting a stick through it going through some tight trees, i mounted headlights and gauges on the handlebars, if you want some pics give me your e-mail and i will send some, i cant seem to upload on here

Diamond S

Ive run mine three seasons now. No probs, many a roll over. Just make sure your pipes have good clearance!! There alot stronger than they look. I have a slick hinge set up that I will post later.

Easy Installation
OEM Hinge Mount
No Modifications Needed
Hood has mounts for gauges & Aftermarket Light

Check them out at www.trax2treadz.com

The skinz hood is a good idea but it is probably the ugliest snowmobile hood I've ever seen.

make your own;)

"many a roll over"

I agree though, been running one for several years myself, I boonie in some tight trees too, many rollovers, hits, and beer spills. No problems with the Hood: :eek:until....take it from here 6-go?:beer;
Love the air intake it comes with, really good on a 5 ft day in cascadia!
6-go does have a slick hood hinge set up, very original and functional.

Scott at Diamond S is great to deal with too. You just gotta know when to call, and when not to.
