Dialing in the Fox Float2 Shocks on a Nytro

Oh great masters of the Nytro Universe, SCHOOL me on how to make these shocks work better!!

So, I have a 2010 Nytro SE with the Fox Float2 Shocks on it.

Right now, with the sled on the ground, I have about 75psi in both front shocks.

This last weekend I had an opportunity to hop on my son's 2009 153 Nytro, and I was just amazed at how much easier it was to lean over and get it up on an edge as compared to my SE. It was like DAY and NIGHT difference.

His sled was SO much easier to toss around in the powder and lean over from side to side that it made me start wondering if my air pressure settings might be WAY off the mark??

So I am looking to see what everyone else is running???

A good tuning tool is a ziptie. Put a ziptie in the shaft at the top of the stroke. Take it for a normal everyday ride for you would be. Stop look at where the zip tie is. I like to have it about an inch or two above the bottom of the stroke so that if I hit something hard I don't bottom out so bad. Adjust air pressure as needed.

i run 70 psi and dont have a problem throwing it over. maybe try 60-65 psi. remember its a wider front end on the 10.

55`

HAVE DROPPED TO 55 PSI THROWS OVER MUCH EASIER. ALSO INCREASE THE PRESSURE IN THE CENTER SHOCK A BIT. DO YOU HAVE YOUR SKIS SET TO THE NARROWEST POSITION?

I have the Simmons Gen III skis in the middle position.

Just went down to adjust the air pressure in the shocks.
Imagine my surprise when I found.

Front Right Shock = 80psi

Front Left Shock = 90psi

Front Skid Shock = 85psi.

Adjusted both front shocks down to 65psi and will test tomorrow.

Great idea.
Will give that a try as well.

Remember these shocks need to be unloaded, weight off the ground. I have an 08 and tryed all different settings with the sway bar disconnected and never liked the feel. Dropped the air pressure to 60# and reconnected the sway bar and it handles totally different for me. I kind of like it.

I'm just setting mine up I ran last weekend on 65 PSI and I lovw the way it handled. Friends are running around the same pressure. No sway bar. Pressure set with ZERO weight on ski's

Hmm
That is the pressure I am reading with the sled at rest, but the shocks under pressure from the weight of the sled.

I think this has a lot to do with the wider stance on the SE. I notice the same thing between my 09 and 10.

Then it might be worth the time and effort to remount the new skis to the narrower position as well as lower the pressure in the shocks.?

I have rode a few nytros with floats on the front am not a fan. List the shocks in the swap and get some real shocks.

Ohlins, Z bros exits or Elkas.

Dropping the pressure down didn't hurt any at all.
I think the next thing I am going to do is to remove the skis and mount them at the narrow position.

I agree with Thistle save yourself some time and ditch them for some quality shocks. You won't ever regret it. I went with Z-bros Exit 1 shock.:face-icon-small-hap:D
I know guys who messed with fox shocks for longer then they will admit and still bought another brand. Air shocks can't handle the extra front end weight of a 4 stroke.IMHO
