Took my 2003 800 vertical escape for its first ride of the year today and the temp light is flashing(detonation). Over the summer I had some engine work done by reputable builder(Porting) and I also replaced the detonation sensor with a new one just for preventative maintenance. Is there a way to test the detonation sensor to eliminate it before I have to possibly go to a race gas mix?

Your saying two things there was it temp and det or just temp or just det? How long were you able to ride before it went off? Water pump belt?If you have an air pocket in your cooling system, it will cause you to over heat which will set off the temp sensor. I would make sure you have coolant circulating. feel the rails after warm up.If your circulating the you need to test the temp sensor.
The temp light was flashing. It only starts to flash once I get on the gas. The cooling system is bled and is circulating fine.
It was a bad detonation sensor. Installed my old one and everything works great. Time to head to the hills.
