i just installed rk teks drop in kit in my 11 rmk assault and got new team adjustable weights and I wanted to do some break in miles around home before I go out west in 2 weeks and home is 1000 feet max in MN. I put 70.6 gram weights in and now that I have 25 or so miles on the kit I wanna see what its got and I gave it some good gas and It acted like I maybe hit the rev limiter when the rpms got up so tomorrow im gonna put 2 more grams in and try it but im wondering how do I know if im hitting the rev limiter or DET? because I do have 14.1 domes in and 100+ octane so I really don't know which one I hit?

use your memory and see what it shows for max rpm..really easy to hit the rev limiter if clutching isn't right..normally if you hit the det sensor very hard it will flash a(orange if I remember right) DET light on the dash......

ok thanks im pretty sure it was rev limiter then because I didn't see any lights and I was watching my temp so I couldn't see rpms. I tried to rip it really quick and then I hit it and just eased it back into the garage so ill see how it goes in the morning when I put more weight in. I remember getting about 8250-8350 last year out west im not to concerned here at home with having it set just right because I don't ride it at home but I really wanna put a good 50 miles of break in on it at home before taking it out west and lettin er rip

My '11 with just a 12.5-1 par head at that elevation I was running slp mtx weights. 70g weights with 3grams in the belly and 1 in the tip to keep it off the rev limiter. You're headed in the right direction. But 2g's may not be enough. They hit it easy in the midrange. Especially if you don't have good traciton. Mine really frustrated me. I got it to where it wouldn't hit the limiter.... til I would hit open water! Waterskipping is a terrible time for it to go into limp mode! Added another gram and then good to go

I got the same setup but also SLP pipe and PCV. Took it out yesterday and hit 8550. This is with 100LL, 72.6g, and 14.1 domes. Never hit DET though. This thing rips.
