desperate fish cops?

I keep reading the posts here and can't help but wonder. Personally I have never had an issue with keeping my stickers in my pack and not on the sled. Fish cops stop me quite often I just tell them if I put them on in the cold they will just fall off. I find that if I am nice to them they are nice to me. Can't say I have ever run into any of them that are a$$holes. In fact most have them have been quite friendly with me.

Well in Utah, YES!! As unbelievable as that is, it's exactly how the state law reads. If you are transporting an OHV in the state of Utah you must be able to provide proof of registration, or have a bill of sale with that date on it to prove it was just purchased and explain that you are just transporting it home. Last year Dan Adams, Tony Jenkins, and Jared Sessions got all their sleds impounded up at fairview just unloading in the parking lot because they had demo sleds from cat, doo, poo that they were testing next years boondocker turbo kits on. The sleds technically are not owned by anyone but the manufacters, don't have titles or MSO's and therefor unregisterable, but of course you can imagine our friendly Utah DNR guys could give two sh**s less about anything except enforcing the law to it's highest degree.

I remember this, that was a bad deal.
Just a thought, is it possible to have some sort of dealer plate/licensing? Heck anyone who doesn't want to register there vehicle or pay sales tax just cruses around with dealer plates on, is this possible with sleds?

They changed the rules in Utah for placing your tag on your sled. You only get one sticker instead of two now, it is to be placed on the rider left hand side of the sled in a visible location on the hood, panel or tunnel. Tell any fishcop to buzz off if they think it should be anywhere else. I carry these instructions with me cause I know one of these days some DB is gonna want to cause some problems.

I'm with you!! They have a job to do let them do it. For some reason I get pulled over a lot!!! But I'm pretty sure I have never been pulled over for no reason!! If you **** up then just own it!! Seems to work out most the time for me when I do....and if I still get a ticket well maybe I shouldn't have been doing whatever I got the ticket for!!

Back in like 1994 I got stopped at a rode block on the west side of Utah lake while I was coming back from the dunes. Wyoming license plates on my truck, Wyoming drivers license no Utah sticker on my bike in the back... The sheriff gave me a ticket for not registering the bike in utah!! That law does suck but I chose to ride the dunes without registering the bike! I deserved the ticket it just sucked that it was not at he dunes cuz I thought I had gotten away with it:)

Now I just register all my stuff but I just put the stickers in a baggy with the registration and put them in the seat of the sled. I'm sure I will get a ticket one day but it's not their fault it's my choice and I will deal with it when the time comes.

I think the road blocks have about as much to do with checking registrations as with checking for drinking and riding. But that's just my opinion.

This aint about stickers or registrations.. Its about them stoping us on our way out to ride at a block and make us wait till they check the other 20 people in front of you.. They can check my chit all they want, but i'm part of the group that pays their dues and gets my arse up early to ride and get back home at a good time. Meet me at the lot while I'm getting dressed and ask away for what ever. Don't sit on your arse waiting for any to come to them. I had to wait almost 30 minutes one day cause the cop had to write up a ticket for another group and told us to wait till he was done that he will be right back. Only to check us for 1 minute and let us go as we was all legal. He could of done a quick look and continue. But, whatever ey..

They stopped us 2 years ago at Bear River Ranger Station in a road block. They had around 15 people and snowmobiles parked there, Sherrifs and DNR. We had a person in our group that had a tool bag fall out of his bag just before the road block so he flipped around to get it. He was just in sight of the law dogs. Sure enough two of them ran to there sleds to chase him down but he had turned back around just as they fired up their sleds. They questioned him pretty hard on what he was doing. I didnt have my license nor my daughters but I was registered. They took our names and DOB and warned us to have them next time or we would be ticketed.

I don't agree with the road blocks either but I'm sure if they recovered your stolen sled you may sing a different tune.

That's good to know. I had a dbag fish cop approach me a few weeks ago. I was in the middle of helping my buddy with a sled issue so I wasn't in the mood to kiss a## or have any sort of conversation with the idiots. I had my sticker on my tunnel with the month sticker as well. He then asks where my other sticker is at and to see paper work. I asked why do I need to be hassled to show paper work when I had my stickers in plain sight. No answer to that question but he insisted on the paper work work and now needs to see the vin. I have a aftermarket tunnel so I riveted the vin on.

So I showed him my paperwork, vin and while doing so I said out loud to my buddy "sorry I can't help you with your sled, I instead have to waste my time showing this guy my paperwork when he clearly can see I have my stickers". The rent-a-cop didn't say anything, just handed me my paperwork back and drove off into the sunset.

I like to be registered and legit, that way if they ever Hassel me I can talk s### and there isn't anything they can do. I think we've all rode unregistered before, and felt the anxiety and worry about being busted. It takes some of the fun out of riding. Better to be legit and tell the fish chips to shove it, if and when they pull a power trip.

They tried the BS of ticketing sleds in town here in Idaho. Wrote a guy up for unregistered sleds at the gas station.
After they got done in court the judge threw it out.
Vehicles could only be ticketed on the snow or with verifiable proof that they had been ridden on public trails.
He was taking them for use on private land and did not have to have them registered.
I always register my sleds but I'm pretty sure I'd be arguing the heck out of a ticket I got in town.

my biggest problem with law enforcment is no matter what you do, trying to obey the law they can allways find some thing thats gonna cost you some money. and then the time it takes explaining to them what your doing on their land,i thought it was our public land but i must be mistaken.starting to feel like every time i see law enforcement i. should just start throwing money at them and asking permission to use their forest. sorry for the attitude but i feel thing are a little upside down these days
