WTH? heard there was a road block on the Evanston side of 150. How desperate are they to make more money of us? Also, didn't know we had to carry our drivers licence while riding. That's stupid.. I don't want to lose it.., Is the North Slope snow worth the trouble? Anyone up there today? Haven't heard of any Bear River side riding reports this year... OK, done.... :face-icon-small-dis

News to me about the DL. Never carry mine either and have never been asked to present it.
Did you get a ticket ?

Can we get away with carring a copy? Group I ride with went up. Their ride was cut short when one hit a tree. On their way out, they incountered the block so they just got a warning. They mentioned about 15 or more peeps were stoped been checked at the time they was there..... They didnt make it pased the witney turn off when one hit a tree so ended their day. That's why I ask about the snow up higher cause they said there was nothing down the road...

That's pretty ridiculous. They really must not have anything else to do.

M8Chris got pulled over last weekend because the cop couldn't see his registration stickers on his sleds.. They must be bored.

By the way, I never ride with my drivers license. I've had too many things fall out of pockets because I forget to zip them up. But the last time I checked, you don't need a drivers license to drive a snowmobile. A permit, yes. But how else do kids ride them??

Kids take a class and get their blue card permit.. I too forget to zip up most the time. Getting ridiculous. I heard that they was going to make us put the stickers on the hood or be sited... O well, it is what it is but to spend all that state funds on a road block..... :face-icon-small-dis

It's Presidents' Day weekend, might have something to do with it??
The main reason $$$$
I hear the Sheriff has been hitting Monte parking lot hard too.

State law mimics that of driving a car. You must be 16 with a valid drivers license. Although most rangers don't ask to see it, they just assume you have one if you look 16. Every Saturday there are state park rangers at the Lake Creek parking lot. Watched 3 sleds get impounded last week. If you plan on riding an unregistered sled you should avoid riding weekends. Personally to me it's not worth the brain damage. I'd rather spend the little money to register it than to have to worry / stress and avoid certain, areas, times and days.

I couldn't agree more.

I remember a few years ago we were in the parking lot getting ready, we parked next to a brand new F-350 King Ranch, with a brand new 4 place enclosed trailer. The rangers were there and they came and were talking with us, the one's beacon was acting up so we were helping him figure it out. After the rangers left, the door on that enclose trailer opened, and a guy looks at me and goes "hey kid, is the fuzz gone?" Then the ramp open and 4 brand new sleds pulled out and headed up the trail. I was shocked! Obviously they have money, so why not spend the little extra and not have to hide out in your trailer until the rangers leave.

That is total BS. While I always register my sled, I keep the sticker in my seat storage as I've had them peel off two years in a row. I would be pretty pissed if a cop pulled me over for lack of a sticker on my sled that's being towed!

I agree with registration, but get up early like i do and check my **** wile I'm getting ready. Don't waste my time once I'm headed out to play.....

Yea I was pulled over in town because the cop couldn't see my registration on my deck. Are they gonna pull over every enclosed trailer because u can't see the Stickers???

And to the f350 being rich other way could be they are in High debt and for whatever reason think $65 is a lot for registration.

Me if you can buy a sled u can buy registration it's a no brainer

registration??

So are you saying you need to register your sled in Wyoming also to transport through evanston going to bear river service back in utah?

They set up those road blocks on the BR side about twice a year. Usually down by the Ranger Station. I agree and think they should be roaming the parking lot while people get ready. Not delaying the good times people spend so much money and time just wanting to enjoy their weekend.

FYI: If you sport a vinyl tunnel wrap be sure you cut a window for the Vin # to be exposed. They will ticket, impound or make you remove it on site.

Chris you left out the best part of you being pulled over...

He told the cop to climb on his deck and check the sleds himself:cheer2:

LMAO!!!!!!

Well in Utah, YES!! As unbelievable as that is, it's exactly how the state law reads. If you are transporting an OHV in the state of Utah you must be able to provide proof of registration, or have a bill of sale with that date on it to prove it was just purchased and explain that you are just transporting it home. Last year Dan Adams, Tony Jenkins, and Jared Sessions got all their sleds impounded up at fairview just unloading in the parking lot because they had demo sleds from cat, doo, poo that they were testing next years boondocker turbo kits on. The sleds technically are not owned by anyone but the manufacters, don't have titles or MSO's and therefor unregisterable, but of course you can imagine our friendly Utah DNR guys could give two sh**s less about anything except enforcing the law to it's highest degree.

Twice over the years I've come into a road block up at Franklin Basin. The fish cops were absolute a$$holes!! It's been several years since it happened to me last, but yeah I got a ticket for not having my drivers license with me, and also because I had the stickers in the wrong place. According to the sticker instructions (unless it's changed since I didn't pay much attention last time I bought a sled), the stickers must be on either the side belly pans or low on the side of the hood. I've always put them on the tunnel since they won't stay on the belly pan and I don't always ride with a hood. Lots of stupid laws in Utah, and LOTS of fish cops out there trying to meet their monthly quota for tickets. Complete BS!!!!!!!!

yeah i got pulled over and ticketed over at snake creek.i was just driving down the road the fish cop was sitting in a parking lot talking to another ranger saw me pass by and chased us down to check stickers.all sleds where covered, and we weren't unloading.i know they just do it for the money. everthing goverment does is for money.

Really...

Tell me something i don't know. My sleds are always registered. WHAT I WAS ASKING was if you had to register your sleds in WYOMING to drive through evanston on the way to BRS. I didn't know who set-up the road block (ut or wy.) I don't know why people have to have such crappy cocky attitudes.

Utah is the only state i have heard of people being pulled over in town for stickers not shown on sleds. I been in Evanston plenty times and i carry my tags on me not on my sled.. Next to a cop and not gotten bothered. BR is on the Utah side so it's still Utah doing the blocks.. tax payer money for them to hang out at the mountain..

Who has the crappy cocky attitude? :noidea: I don't want to read into your post as much as it appears that you read into his, but it seemed to me he was just trying to help out with a little info. Seems you are jumping the gun a bit here. Maybe since it is such a big deal to you why don't you take 10 minutes and look the Wyoming law up and report back to us and help clear this up.:face-icon-small-dis If Wyomings law is written like Utahs then the answer is yes.
