Denied Membership to Local Club

Thread Rating
2.00 star(s)
My wife applied to be a member to the McCall Area Snowmobilers.

She was denied membership. She asked why, and was told it was because she is married to me.

So what???? Well, apparently they don't want county employees, especially groomer operators, to be in their club.

Anyone ever heard anything this stupid before???

Is this legal?

On another note, this exclusive club receives tax dollars. The tax dollars were earmrked for grooming snowmobile trails. The club has used these dollars to puchase capital equipment, hire local contractors, and "reimburse" club members for their personal time and equipment time.

Is this a violation of the Little Hatch Act?

You Go Dr!!!

Sounds pretty chitty to me.

Lets hear all three sides of the coin....

Just imagine, years ago nobody even wanted to be president of the club. Practically had to beg someone.

There's probably another twist on this. They are also members of the State Snowmobile association. Write the pres a letter, and tell him how hard it has to become a member.

How long before they try to kick you out of the grooming program?

We had a similar problem many years ago in Salt Lake.

We just started another club and before long the membership of that club out numbers the first one and before long the first one was gone.

You can speed up the process by hiring a good attorney. Or sending some info to the State Attorney General might get some results.

I wouldn't want members in our club from anywhere that were involved or associated in the biggest bone head groomer move west of the Mississippi this year either!

To be honest though, most clubs will take the membership and consider you or her a member, but will keep certain people from becoming officers/board members/operators etc, some maybe due to bylaws or simply do to conflicts of interest.

We have had to eliminate people from operating the groomers over the past or keep them from the grooming end of things all together simply because they don't posses the skills needed to operate that kind of equipment. Probably a half dozen times in the 17 or so years I have been grooming this has happened.

I wouldn't want to be a member of any club that would have me as a member!

Why is the grooming program man hours at an all time high? 30% up from the past.
Oh, oh, pick me... They are up because they are grooming?

I can tell you that I used to travel to McCall 4-5 times a year and spend 3 days each time riding. Did it every year and usually brought 3 guys with me. About 4 or 5 years ago I had enough of the lousy trails... I especially remember one Friday evening ride back from the hot springs that was absolutely the worst trail I had ever ridden.

I contacted the chamber of commerce, espressed my displeasure and told them I was done coming to McCall.

Hadn't been back until this year when I heard that the trails were now much better. 4 weeks ago we took the shot and made the trip.

The trails were terrific. Talked with several people in the parking lot and they were all smiles, said they had been riding all year and loving the trails.

If drmiller100 is spending 30% more hours grooming you should be thanking him... 8 of us dropped a couple of grand in McCall and will be back again now that the trails are useable.

:mad:Miller- tell the WHOLE story. You have issues! Why bring your own dirty laundry on here and share it without telling the whole story.

Here are some questions for you-

Why would your wife want financial records of the club before she is even a member of the club?

Why is the grooming program man hours at an all time high? 30% up from the past.

Tell us about Justin Hill. I have heard Justin's side and would love to hear your story. (We have pre-picked 5 excuess that we think you will say.) Let's see if you win the prize.

I'm being pretty careful here to separate on this thread my job from my wife's experiences.
My wife asked for a copy of the bylaws when she applied for membership. Now that you mention it, a copy of the financials would be a good idea as well.

Are you scared of providing them???????

The best comment I can make is to ask to be judged based upon the quality of our trails. I'm proud of our trails. So are the other active operators.

As a matter of public record, the program man hours are up significantly as are overtime hours. It turns out we are on track to DOUBLE the number of machine hours over anything that has ever occurred in this county. If you want to get really picky, the number of idle hours on each of the machines is actually down by half.

It turns out current employees tend to run their machines significantly over idle for a much higher percentage of time then ever before.

It also turns out we have had more snow then in previous years. You probably didn't notice, but it snowed more then it has in years past.

It also turns out we have a lot of money left over this year. It is really puzzling how we can burn more fuel, work our people more hours, have flatter trails, and yet have more money left over then ever before.

Any thoughts???????

As a member of the community, I thought the parking lot at Francis wallace was a disgrace this year. Who was in charge of that???? What were the financial costs to the program as a whole??? One rumor was that the club blew threw 10,000 bucks and managed to plow the parking lot 6 times. Your guesses???

I can honestly say that parking lot was the bumpiest part of the trail system.

As to Justin Hill, I bought him the last 2 rounds of beers last time I saw him, and he was pretty happy to drink them. I wish him the best, he's a great guy.

Regards,
Doug Miller (never afraid to use my real name)

My wife contacted the ISSA.

To clarify, the ISSA is investigating, The local CLUB (not the ISSA) have tried to have me fired repeatedly. Called the Sheriff on me that I know of three times. Commissioners at least 15 times. My boss I have no idea. They have called the state half dozen times that I know of.
Road department.
Friends in boise over 20.

Interesting.

How would you feel if you had a job that was your main source of income in the winter, and a bunch of morons kept calling elected officials in hopes that they would apply pressure to have you fired because you were doing your job??????

I actually was told this year to only groom on Sunday and Monday cuz that was when the retired officers of the club rode sleds, and was not to groom on Thursday and Friday because we want "less people from the valley."

Is the club disatisfied with the grooming program?

Dan right on the nail! Big smile here...and so far it's been 100% satisfactory every single McCall ride. (I ride alot too!)

Don't care about the BS and politics...LOVE THE ALWAYS SMOOTH MCCALL TRAIL SYSTEM! Leave at least $10,000 a year up there due to it. So do my thirty plus friends. Suspect that is the case with about 500 other non resident snowmobile valley co property owners. HMM?

If Miller got as much done with that club as he done with the grooming project maybe he should be let in!

Mrs. Miller for President?

RMKRIDER,

"On another note, this exclusive club receives tax dollars. The tax dollars were earmrked for grooming snowmobile trails. "

If this is true then as the owner of a cabin in valley county and not a member of this club, I should still have the right to see the records of where my tax money is. It should be of public record.
And I have to say, you explained right here that she would have had those rights after she joined then WHY was she denied membership????? It is appauling to me that anyone should be denied membership!

Well now this is a loaded question! A county employee on a public forum bashing the local snowmobile club and whom ever else gets in his way. We better change "try" to "going".

F-Bomb- you are right about the politics...you fell for it all.

DR Miller- You are a politician, the deal with your wife went as I stated. She WAS NOT a member of the club when she asked for these items. If she would have waited and become a member she would have recieved all of these items just like any other club member.
I like the way you skated around the Justin Hill story- I almost fell for it,"I bought him the last 2 rounds of beers last time I saw him, and he was pretty happy to drink them."
See F-Bomb he is a good politician he answered the question without answering it.

Oh and Miller, I never been afraid of anything.....

Good luck!

sounds like you are GOING to get me fired. Is that a promise???? I invite you and your buddies to investigate the Little Hatch Act.

What other club members have received the club financials and bylaws????? Name 2.

If you not afraid of anything, then publish your real name so folks don't have to trace your IP.

fbomb is just another moron. he can't think for himself. when him and his buddies from scandanavia thought they were riding smooth trails, they were confused.

Sign your real name dink.

^^^Ask Mr. Miller....^^^

I have been asked to delete my posts so this can be handled the correct way.

Sounds like a storm is blowing in.

I don't understand why he can't bash the local snowmobile club. No bashing of snowmobile clubs allowed? County employee or not.
