deep powder challenge 800's

I had a day when I was able to hop back and forth from a 2008 xp to a 2011 xp with the 36" arms. All I thought was "yep, still sucks, just narrower". It really is all about that dumb steering angle. Good to hear the XMs aren't like that. I've got no problem with anything else on those sleds because everything else can be messed with. But that one issue really is that bad. So if it's gone, that's awesome. I even got back on my own formerly owned Rev last year. My only reaction 'jesus, no wonder I sucked so hard when I started this sport'.

Haha... yep... pretty much EXACTLY what I've said every time I've ridden a doo!!!!

I couldnt agree more!! I have owned Polaris all my riding career. Any time I tried a new doo I hated it. I finally got tired of new engines in my dragon and tried the 2012 xp and remembered why i kept fixing the dragon. Then I rode the 2013 XM. I bought one. They are a nice sled.

I also snow checked a new XM. IMO the feel just as light as a pro rmk on the snow and have great power. Cat has good power but the chassis isn't near as easy to ride as a pro rmk or an XM which is holding them back along with all there clutch issues.

Three magazine staffers rode all the sleds as well as pick the ski doo as the eventual winner. Curiously they did not comment or lay out their individual preferences in the article like the other nine riders. Hmmmm?

Got to ride an xm (both a aerocharged 240hp and stocker) out west last month, turbo no swaybar stocker had swaybar. No swaybar way better, but there tippy as hell. After a short time that fades away though, great machines but they will never handle the abuse that midwest riding will put them through. A few rough trail sections here in Michigan and the T-motion will be swiss cheese IMO. The stock machine had no lowend to it at all, but I'm on the 1100T so any 800 feels weak. With some minor clutching and moving the post to the forward position (big job) it is easily a fantastic machine. The turbo was fun when the boost kicked in. I will still keep my Cat wasn't blown away by it like I thought I would be.

The biggest thing that would hold me back from buying the M over the other 2 would be that it felt and sounded like a bucket of bolts compared to the other 2. The other 2 feel much more "put together." I enjoyed the ride on the M just fine, but I also enjoy something that feels like a quality product and the M was lacking in that respect. Also, the motor had good power, but was a really burpy/farty thing compared to the Pro. If you ride in/out of the throttle a lot it's annoying. Doo is better in this respect, and Polaris was actually the best (the new 2013, my 2011 has midrange farts as well).

I'm really not sure.

If it falls apart... I'll talk to the dealer & get it replaced.

If it KEEPS falling apart, I'll get it replaced again, then swap skids with someone who wants a t motion.
IMO the advance is more in the track than the skid... but can't prove that!

I know a few guys jumping them, and only know of one who has had issues.

Never thought I would see a guy that likes to jump, go for a sled with a 36" stance and floppy rear suspension. I've heard a lot of good about the xm but in my mind they seem to be the wrong sled for lots of jumping! Guess arcticchat will need a new moderator!

Just bought a new 13 M8 and the midrange "farts" I think are from the stock muffler. Put a can on and it seemed to clean it up. The only "bucket of bolts" feel I have on this sled compared to my wifes 12 RMK is the adjustable steering post which is sloppier than they were on the M series. I think I will figure out my ideal ride height and put a Z broz post in. Power is a lot better than the Poo 13. Track was also a deal breaker for me over the Poo.
Rode a Doo a while back and was impressed with it but I like a more stable sled and the power came on strong in the bottom but seemed more lacking on top. The cat seems to have more linear power. I know they have about the same on top, I felt it was in the clutching where the issue was.
This is all my opinion and I am a "Cat" guy so maybe I am a bit biased but I like my wifes Poo and still wouldn't hesitate to buy a Doo if a great deal came up.

Hey there cheeser... I've still got my proclimb!! (and a FRIGGIN TRAILER FULL OF CAT PARTS!!!!:face-icon-small-dis)

Actually though, I've always liked a narrow stance for jumping. Easier holding a line to off camber hits, and less shoulder wrenching when you land a bit off. The skid I wondered about, but my landings on off camber downhill whips, and sideways cornice hits (taking off from a vertical chunk of snow & landing downhill) have been so much smoother than on my M that I'm not too worried about it. We all knew the M didn't have that lawn dart type of flight, the proclimb feels more like the doo than the M in the air to me... the PC flies GREAT... it's a killer jumper. The XM seems to do well enough for me. Jumping I can do on anything though, you can go bigger IMO on a longer sled, and land smoother, I ride a shorter sled for the challenge in other spots & ability to make moves you just can't on a long machine. SO FAR, the xm seems to fit my version of what I want from a machine.

Hmm the demo I rode had aftermarket can....no idea what brand tho, and that might be the difference. The post is definitely a large source of sloppy-ness....I would do the same with a non-adjustable post. I found everything to have a "looser" feel than the others, and that you got more noise/vibration/harshness from all the goings-on than the other 2. That's me being picky tho. Net power wise I just couldn't find a huge difference....Cat definitely feels faster, but racing them on the flats or up hills they are dead even (and the Doo too). Didn't have them out on a deep enough day to see which chews higher on the hill.....by rights the cat should; more track and more hp. I would buy a 13 cat tho and be 100% happy....I just wouldn't buy it over the Pro as I don't see enough advantages to give up what I'm familiar with.

Yeah...um...My dirtbike does not have a wide stance..................so I guess I cant jump it..............:face-icon-small-con

I love the wide stance for jumping, with a proper shock (not a boingy *** float ) you will get ease to lay over and hit that off camber jump, and it wont boing you back when you land, (triple rate springs with dampening set right) they will give you a plush take off plush hit on the jump and a great bottom out...

I still think the damn floats are the single most handling flaw of the proclimb ad old m sleds... And to get a proper conparison of how they all perform t same shocks should be put on each.. There light but thats it!!!!

Had the chance this year to compare the xm and a 13 pc this year. First trip out both sleds had 174"x 3" tracks and stock engines. The xm was better by a bit but noticeable. I have a 174 09 m1000. Any way it was my turn to compare and I hopped onto the xm and within 20 seconds I thought it was awesome. I HATED the xp and was not looking forward to riding the xm. I love telling all the skidoo guys that the m in xm is from cat. It handles like a m so called it xm. The 13 PC was good just took a little longer to get used too. So now the 13 PC has a carbon fibre hood, c3 belt drive , linderman port job, jaws single pipe. Well it kills the xm now in climbing. But this is where it gets interesting, the xm in a real tight carve pops up so much better. I can carve a little tighter circle with the PC but it won't come up as nice. Has anybody noticed this? Is it the tmotion that pops it up?
