IN CANADA ONLY!!! where in the canadian rockies is a great area for really deep powder? Preferably closer to Calgary. I want deep powder, not to go climb hills all day as I will be taking my wife and another couple out west for the first time!

A good place for taking your wife and kids would be crowfoot mountain on shuswap lake, bc(near kamloops). the terrain is easy and their is a lot of powder to hit up. and you can also drop down into grizzly mountain and the terrain is awsome their but not for beginners.

powder

I was thinking towns more like Pincher creek, Golden something closer to foot hills. I ride Morrissey, Elkford, sparwood and fernie areas and I cant take unexperienced riders to places like that.

They are right, go to BC. You have been to the places in AB that get the snow and if you don't want to take your family there, keep going. We get too many chinooks for the snow to stay around Calgary. You would get more snow than us.

There are many miles of groomed trail in the areas you mentioned you have been to, keep the family on these trails around fernie, castle, and then into Golden and you will have lots of fun.

Theres no way you can compare Pincher Creek to Golden, one you can watch your dog run away for 3 days and the other you have too look straight up to see the sun come up.no comparison.

You should stay in the crowsnest side, more chinooks ,yet still have some serious places to ride, atlas, satorsis valley, castle, grab a pipe or gas line and ride it for a long time.

I agree there's more user friendly riding in the pass than anywhere else in the mountains ie Golden,Silent Pass Etc

There isn’t any powder in B.C. , oh! You mean in winter? Still none. Check out the photos in my web site below. They were all taken just south of Winnipeg! Jk. We have great pow here, Sicamous, Crowfoot, Hunters Range, Revy, but don’t tell anyone!
