decided to try a new M/T tire....

Have ran the Yokohama Geolander MT's on my yota's. Great tires, but they are directional, will probably run them again. Have Hankook MT's on my F350, really like them, good traction, but not too loud on the highway, price was decent. Really like the fact that they are one of the few tires that are 'E' range in a 315/75/16 size.

can you give me some more of your opinion on the geolander? they look good, but how about wear and overall traction, do they clog up in reverse?

With throttle input the don't clog up. I ran them on Toyotas, they lasted pretty good, even with my aggressive driving on gravel roads(I was travelling 40+ miles of gravel 6-7 days a week). If your vehicle is heavier than a 1/2 ton they may not be the best choice, as the tread is softer than some tires. Since they are directional you can only move them front to back and vice versa. When I finish my next 'yota I will mount up a set.

they would go on a 2006 tacoma. Hows prcing on em?

I ran BFG MT KMs on my Jeep(31x10.50R15) for over 30k on them and they looked good. You definitely need to rotate every 3k though.

I had Pro Comp MTs on my 01 Cummins and had a little over 30k on them. Still had a little tread on them when I replaced with Xtreme MTs. Only had abut 7k on them when I sold the truck but they looked new.

Running BFG AT on current truck. They came with the truck. Seem to get good traction.

I am upgrading to a 35" tire soon and I am having a hard time deciding. I think 35x12.50R17 Cooper STs or Mastercraft Courser CTs. These are very similar to the Dean tires mentioned.

I like the Toyos but they are damn expensive!

I run the Toyo LTs on my diesel best tire I have ran so far. Noisy on the Hwy decent in the bush, lasting well. Ran the Yokohama's rubber is to soft for a diesel in my opinion. Never tried the MTs.

Anyone had a set of the Cooper STT's? I think that's what I'm gonna put on my truck next ...

Haven't tried the stt's, but I was just about to tell c-man to go with the Cooper st's. Relatively cheap and worked very well for me when I wheeled in the Big Sky area. Just look at all the Williams plumbing trucks up there. They all have them for a reason...they are good all around and they won't break the bank. Back to the stt's...I have seen them and am very interested...anybody tried these yet???

I quit selling those things unless guys requested them. Didn't wear for squat, loud, worthless on ice.

I am currently running these on my truck, they told me not to expect more than 30k. It is truley an off road use tire, great mud/snow traction but they do not like high speed highway travel. Drove to west yellowstone and back from iowa this winter and it looked like i lost a 1/4 of the tread. Will go with something else next time as it's a dual purpose truck.

I had Toyo Open Country Mts on my Dodge, and they ROCKED! They wore AWESOME. I got 63000 kms of gravel and mud wear out of a 35/ 12.50/ 17. Thought that was awesome!

Last week, I bought some 315/ 70/ R17 Kumho Road Venture Mt's. I've only got about 3000Kms on them, but so far, they're equal to or better than my Toyos. Sure seem to wear better! Take a look at them! If anything, they sure look neat.

I know you said no Swampers, but the new Interco M-16 is sweet lookin'. If I could have bought some in the right size, that's the way i'd have went.

I've found most of the wheeling up there has a good rock base to it...and the st's can't be beat on the snow and icy roads. If you've found a good mud hole and like to wheel there most, you should probly go with something else. The st's will get around in the mud but not as good as some of the above mentioned. Other than the coops, the best choice IMO would be the toyos...Buddy of mine has a set and loves them...got awesome mileage from them and they wheel good (cept his dodge can't go where old blue goes:face-icon-small-win)
Another note: the best tire dealer in our area is interwest tire behind the super 8 in Belgrade. They deal with cooper and toyo and have had the most excellent customer service every time I have delt with them. Such good customer service is rare these days. They deserve a BIG thumbs up. Good Luck....out:beer;

ive got a set of studs for winter, so im thinkin a dedicated m/t, and im starting to lean towards the maxxis bighorn....

anyone try these?

I've owend both the BFG A/T's and the Toyo M/T's. I haven't had a problem with either both are very good tires if your looking for a M/T tire Toyo is the way to go because they hold up and are quiet on the pavement. Only problem is like mentioned above they are expensive I run a 35x12.50 on a 20 inch wheel they were only about 400.00 a piece but they are worth it I will definetly own another set after these get worn.
