decided to try a new M/T tire....

ok guys, pick a new tire for me. Right now i got pro comp m/t's and im not a huge fan. ****ty sidewalls and not good wear. Im thinkin of tryin bfg, toyo, or anything else anyone on here recommends...

So wat do you guys have experience with and like?

They are going on a yota, weekend warrior wheeler, so nothin bigger than a 33", and NO SUPER SWAMPERS:p:p:D

thanks

I had 33" 10.50 BFG mud Terrain KO's on my old truck. They came with the truck so I can't say how many miles they had but they guy said they were new.

I put on a new set and only got about 18k out of them. Great in the mud but sucked nuts as far as wear.

I would look into the toyo or even a set of Yokahamas if they make a MT.

mmm interesting....i have heard only good things about the toyos, but EXPENSIVE! holy ****....like 400 a piece for the size i want....

good to know about the bfg wear though....

Had a set of 37" Goodyear MTR's on my Dodge and though performance was good, they just didn't last...granted the truck weighs in at 8K and I tow up to 14K. Have a friend with a Tacoma on the same tires and he loves them, I think he has close to 50k on them and they're finally just about worn out.

I bought a set of Toyos last year and have not had near the wear problem, they are great tires and worth the extra $ IMO, especially if you're towing.

only time i tow is in winter, and i have studs then....

i do haul some wieght at time, but not everyday....

I don't have any experience with the Toyo M/T's but I have a set of the A/T's and love them. I have about 20k on them so far and they show little to no wear; and I travel on alot of rugged gravel roads.

If Toyo's M/T is built as good as the A/T, they will be great tires.

so the quality is pretty high on them then?

i definently need a m/t, as this is my wheelin/campin/playin truck.....

I had a set of BFG MT's on a ford Ranger and got 30 K easily. If you have any mud tire on a heavy truck they will wear faster than say an AT of comparable value/brand MT's are typically pretty soft. If you don't like the Pro comps you probably won't like the Mikeys or Cepeks since all 3 are made by Cooper. Also one that I found pretty interesting is the Good Year MTR even though I have had bad experiences with Good years in general as far as wear. Also heard great things about the Toyo, Nitto, and Yokohama but none of those are remotely cheap.

I have always had good luck with bfg's. I have done 65,000+ with three different sets of all terrains on 1/2 ton pickups. Mostly highway driving but a fair amount of gravel and dirt as well. They are more of a highway tire, but have decent grip for an all-terain and a pretty good side-wall.

These are getting to be an older tire and I am thinking there should be something better out there by now, but as they are proven I am going to keep buying them.

i have attended my 10 year HS reunion, BFG mud ta were good then and there must be a reason they have not changed much in the last 20 years.

a buddy had good luck with the yoko mud diggers. the toyo's have a decent rep but are expensive.

to settle it all, go for some super swampers and be done with the which tire is toughest stuff.

haha my buddys truck has a set of them, obnoxious! they are awesome is the deeeeep, but you cant drive over 50 on pavement....and 45 is SKETCH!

I have 33 inchers on my Ramcharger. They are Bridgestone Dueler M/T's. They are going on six years now and are still in great shape. I don't put alot of miles on the old "beast" (wife and daughters name for it) anymore but the fact that they haven't weatherchecked in these brutal Wyoming winters says alot. The tread still looks like new, they are mounted on 15X10 aluminum wheels. No doubt that they will last another six years.

Anyone had a set of the Cooper STT's? I think that's what I'm gonna put on my truck next ...

I've got Mickey Thompson Baja Claw radials on my truck. Work awesome and I've gotten about 30,000 hard miles out of them. Plus they look pretty bada$$. Now it's time for replacements. Super Swamper SSR's work really well too but don't last as long. Pretty much any of the Interco TSL style tires work great off road if that's your main concern.

I run the Toyo's in 37" form. Second pair on this beuty!

Check out the Dean Mud terrain SXT... good tires... I ran them this winter after my buddy bought a set last year and walked all over everything. Pretty darn good highway ride (better than my Open Country's) and stupid traction:face-icon-small-ton:eek:

After 6 months on the truck (probably 10K miles) the rear tires are still like new, and the fronts are almost as good (never did rotate them either). Definitely worth looking at IMHO!!!:beer;:D
