Dealer service question

I am new to this forum and looking for a little advice. I have owned 2 other skidoo's and then this year with prices dropping I decided to buy a new XP. I have never bought a new sled but couldnt turn down the low price. I love the XP. I was told it had a tip to tail full coverage warranty for 1 year. I took it out for the first ride and was real happy. During that day I took a jump and the bars folded forward on me on the landing. The bottom cross on the bar riser cracked out when it hit the forward stop. Luckily it only pinched the wires but didnt break through. Now being a normal person I tightened up the bars kept riding and figured I would complain to the dealer at my 10 hour checkup about the bars not being tightened down properly.

Now I did call them after my first day of riding to tell them I felt like there was high vibration and the riser had been loose and folded on me. They said they would look at it at the 10 hour check. So after having it for 3 weeks and finally hitting 10 hours I took it in and asked them to fix the riser under warranty since they hadnt tightened it. When I picked it up they tell me it isnt a warranty item. So I ask for the manager. She tells me they are not responsible. I say you guys set it up you didnt tighten it properly it is your fault and I want it fixed. She says they have no responsibility and I should have brought it in immediately after the first ride.

Then they proceed to tell me that if it was loose it would have folded on the trails first and that I was riding beyond my ability. I proceed to tell them how older bar risers had teeth on the alluminum and on the steel post and that the part should have been made better but also needed tightening properly. Then they tell me that because of the good deal I got on the sled that I wouldnt get any more out of them and we should go our seperate ways. Finally the shop manager agrees that I had called and talked to them before about the riser and the vibration so the manager says fine I will give you your money back for the riser and she doesnt want me as a customer and we will go our seperate ways.

So she credits me back for the bar riser they had replaced. After all this heated argument I was happy just to leave. Now for me the customer service was key here not the $70 for the riser. So when I get home I find out they never put a new riser on it so they charged me for a part they never installed and she thought they were giving me a free one. So being pissed off I call and let her know that we ended up even and she hadnt done me any favors after all so she should be happy. She hung up on me (HAHA)

So I love the sled but it seams to me that no matter what you pay good deal or not if your sled was set up and the bolts were loose it should be the dealers/shops responsibility to fix any damage.

Also now if I have warranty problems can I go to another skidoo dealer? or do I have to deal with who I bought it from? Also they charged me for the 10 hour checkup which is required for the warranty. Shouldnt that be covered under the purchase price no matter how little I paid?

Any way like I said the money isnt the point but the service is.
If your wondering it was Roundys in spokane. I dont suggest going there.

Sorry this got so long. Any advice would be great.

yeah, it should have been tightened, and a good dealer who is customer service oriented would probaly have taken care of it. As far as waranty, I don't know, I would lean towards no, but like I said a good dealer would have taken care of it, and had a cutomer for life....you can take your sled to any ski-doo dealer you want for warranty items. I would look for a different dealer. I have a great relationship with a dealer who is 4 hours away, and will do business with him forever, while the dealer in my own town has poor service, so I won't go there, and as a result they have lost 7 sleds and 3 atv sales from me...

My riser did that on my first ride on the new sled also. Sucks cause once it happens once the teeth get worn and it happens easier always after that. I started carrying a 10 or 12 inch long box end wrench in my pack for riser clamps, the wrench in the tool kit is useless for those bolts, just rounds them off.

i adjusted mine before i even rode it for the first time. then i gave it all the once over just to make sure everything was good and tight

I was told by the dealer I snow checked the wifes 09 XP that the 10 hr service was not covered under warranty, in fact I think it even states that in her owners manual.

Good dealers are hard to find, in fact the nearest Ski Doo dealer is 75 miles one way for me. I snow checked the wifes 09 XP from this dealer.

I have so little faith in thier competence to work on our sleds that I'm now driving 250 miles one way to a dealer I have a lot more faith in. This will also be the dealer I snow check my next sled from.

u can take that sled to any dealer and have warranty work done..........what u should do is take a part off that sled and take it to the dealer who sold the sled to u and shove it up there f u a$$ and if u need a little help ......i been in a good mood to do just that for free................
