Dealer belt drive discussion at new sled pickup

Picked up my 600 PRO 3 hours ago. Dealer talked about chemical on the belt drive that would make it run super hot, 200 F, for first little bit. Said it would leave black residue in the engine compartment. Residue will stop once the chemical does its thing and vaporizes. Just clean it and it will be done. I nodded my head, ok. He said Poo had been urging dealers to warn new owners so they don't flip when they see this. Have not seen this discussed on the board. Am I alone on this dealer warning. Struck me as quite strange and quite elaborate.

Maybe he should wipe it. A new vehicle doesn't make a mess. He can clean it all up when it goes for it's first service.

Drive Belt/QUICKDRIVE Belt Break-In
The length of the break-in period varies depending on the type of drive
system. The break-in period for a new drive belt is 30 miles (48 km).
The break-in period for a new QUICKDRIVE belt is 100 miles (160
km).
• During the break-in period, vary the throttle position under 50% and
limit full throttle use.
• Always take time to warm up the belt and driveline prior to operating
the snowmobile. Free the track and skis from the ground before
engaging throttle.
QUICKDRIVE Belt

During the 100 miles (160 km) of belt break-in, the rider will hear a
sound made by the drive system. After the break-in period, the sound
will become similar to that of a traditional chaincase.
During the break-in period, this belt will shed a fiber-type material in
and around the drive system. Use a dry shop towel to clean the residue

Yes my dealer talked to me about the black grim that comes off the belt when it is new, and about how im portant it is to brake the belt in properley. know there were several proto sleds this spring that has over 1500 miles on the same belt.

Not much chance of many mountain sleds getting 100 miles of break in on a belt. Im not driving 10hrs to trail ride for two days. Mine will get a trip to the cabin and thats about it.
