DAYTONA 500 picks........

6 Dodges in the top 8 who would have saw that coming? Way to go Dodge. The Dodges finally worked together and look what it got them. Loved Kurt's comment at the end. "If Newman came up in front of me I was going to bash his bumper in all the way to the win" I think Kurt just may have matured a little today. Kasey Kahne and Elliot Sadler with a top 10 WOW. I am pleasently surprised today. I was seriously thinking about not watching but am glad I did. It was a good race all around. Also why did Robbie Gordan switch to Dodge?

was very Happy to see Team Penske come thru instead of Toyota, what kind of Great American race would that of been then....

good pick Mafesto!

racing getting more boring every year. to well matched. pass to easy go to the front to easy, to bunched up. i say run what yah brung. keep the cubic inch limit but gat rid of the restricter plate. engine builders will shine. more exciting racing.

I think the suprise of the day for me was Sam Hornish Jr. He cant even hardly qualify for a race, jumps in at Daytona and looked great. I would like to say it is the pressure of qualifying last year, but I can't imagine the winner of the Indy 500 feels real queeesy in qualifying for a cup race. Guess it could be the difference in seat time over the off-season too.

The dissapointment was Dave Blaney and Dale Jarret. Two Toy's that I thought would run well and both sentimental favorites for me.

My debate this morning is, whether that was the dumbest move I have ever seen Stewart make, or was he just a sitting duck either way?? Would Juniour have run harder with newer tires???

The race was decent, couldnt believe how far the cars spread out at the beggining of the race. Also thought Kyle B. was going to try and wreck the whole field to win if he had to at one point. He was all over the place... In the end, Newman deserved a win like this(woulda been nice to see Burton hold on too), it was his time. I am happy for him, rubberhead, and Penske.

With the acceptance of Toyota into Nascar the term Stock Car is officially terminated, at least the major US manufacture's started out with and built what Nascar is today with the pushrod V8. After 50 years of testing and more testing the US manufacture's have earned the right of running the specialty engines they compete with today, how convenient for Toyota to try and dominate the great American race with an engine based on that experience, they have never offered that engine design in stock form. Nascar is becoming a joke IMO, whats next KIA?

It's no secret that I am no ricer fan either.

But there is no arguing the fact that Toyotas presence is good for the sport.
