Son and family just moved to Dayton and I want to bring sleds over from Boise for a few days of riding. What's the terrain, etc., like around Bluewood for sledding. Does anyone know if my Idaho stickers are good in Washington? Thanks for any information.

there are some open meadows and hill climbs with and without trees havent been up there for two weeks so dont know how the snow is. I think it is a fun area

Hey,
I've never ridden down there, but I've heard enough good about it that it's on my list. :face-icon-small-hap
I'm pretty sure that WA has screwed up that reciprical deal on the stickers. Better plan on at least picking up a SnoPark permit. I know they are really enforcing it in our area this year. Sorry.:face-icon-small-con

The Dayton area is a fun little area that gets its fair share of powder. It has its boundaries due to Wilderness, Watershed, and a Ski Area but there are lots of hills and canyons to play in. An area near the Griffin Peak intersection is fun after it burnt out during the big fire in 2006 and they have logged out a lot of that area opening it up.

Your Idaho registration should be fine as lots from Lewiston ride the Pomeroy area all the time. You will need a valid SnoPark permit though to park in the SnoPark just below the Bluewood Ski Area as it is patrolled frequently. Also watch your speed on the North Touchet Road as they like patrolling that on the weekends when the ski traffic is going up and down the road.

The local club has someone up there nearly every Sunday cooking hamburgers at the Godman shelter so if there on Sunday make sure you stop in and say hi to them.

A State Parks map of the area can be found at:

Thanks for the information. Son and family live about 20 miles from Bluewood. Now my son and family need to buy some sleds. Son and I are going to a Bret Rasmussen clinic, so he will be very receptive after that experience.
