Dayco Belt

***Never mind the title I meant Gates Belt*** Any one run a gates belt? I've got a gates extreme belt (# 38X4420) and it doesn't quite measure the same as a stock belt. When comparing the dimensions listed in the owners manual and the dimensions on the packaging of the gates belt, the gates belt is smaller in length and width. Its not much but I thought I should check and see if it will be ok to run. I remember reading somewhere that gates belts usually are a little smaller than stock belts :noidea:.
Any one care to comment? Thanx

on my 02 summit i run the gates extreme 38x4360 i believe is the number there and yes gates is usually a tad smaller, but say over the dayco, the gates has a harder rubber compound which means can take more abuse, heat etc. where as the dayco will start slipping earlier, so gotta let the belt cool, but the gates when it starts to slip, could have a melt down on your clutch. so its a toss up.

My experiences over the years, run the widest belt you can for;
...ability for the engine to quickly rev (rpm accelerate)
...long wear life
...consistent rpms.

Even a shorter belt, not a big deal, adjust the deflection regardless of length, just have the widest belt.
Example the xs803 @ 1-7/16 wide. xs821 @ 1.51"
