You are so right. In fact, my source told me that the Forest Service had indeed pulled the use permit for the Dardanelles for this winter. The specific reasons are not known, but I forgot to mention my source also told me that the State had issued a serious penalty to the prior owners for fraud under the snow grooming contract. Apparently they had billed the State for a number of grooming runs (I think they get paid by the mile) and the grooming was never done. Some of the owners in the Eagle area filed a complaint with the State and the State sent an investigator to audit the books. Anyway, the State found some serious disagreement in the figures used for the audit.

The Forest Service may have received information to this effect. No one will know.

You can call OHV services and ask if there are any disputes with the grooming in this area.

Also ... say they should / must tell you cause of the 1991 public disclosure decision.

Anyone can pull the deed and view tax records at the county assessors office.

Finally this is happening to most owners ... the economy sucks and the old rules don't apply on financing at mant levels.

I have talked to many business property owners and they are loosing money.

You can buy a church or a specific purpose property for cheap.

There is a 8650 square foot church in Westwood CA by Chester CA for 50k

They do. Thanks for the info. Looks like I'll be heading up tonight after the snow stops. I'll stop by Dardanelles and see what is going on if anything.

I need to study up on other riding area options off the site. Thank God for the internet.

Dardanelle Resort Open March 1st

I've been in contact with Cindy most of the day. Chuck and Cindy were the old owners, the property reverted back to them on Nov. 15, 2008 but it wasn't in time to set things up for a winter season at Dardanelles.

I've updated my page with the details Cindy gave me today.

I was really bummed out to hear that they wouldn't be open this season. Judging from all the traffic coming down from Dodge Ridge, the ecomomy hasn't hurt them much. Each evening we've seen mile after mile of cars traveling down the hill after Dodge Ridge closes.

Hope this information is helpful.

I took the time to e-mail this post to Chuck & Cindy. They responded to me by e-mail and asked me to please post it to this forum.

Hello from Dardanelle Resort...

On November 15, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. Chuck & Cindy once again became the owners of the Dardanelle Resort. The "new owners" made the decision to walk out and not honor their agreement, with such short notice we were not able to get things arranged for a winter season.

So yes, the resort is CLOSED for the 2008-2009 winter season and we apologize for the inconvenience but we had no other choice.

The resort will open Spring 2009
New e-mail address: dardanelle108@aol.com
New website address: www.dardanelle108.com

The phones have been discounted and I am working to get the old phone numbers back, they should be up and working in March 2009.

Phone: (209) 965-4205
Fax: (209) 965-4112

As for your informant:

No, the Forest Service did not pull any permits. In fact, I have the 2008/2009 permit in my hand if anyone would care to see it, I’m happy to produce it.

As far as the grooming contract: What a bunch of B.S., Chuck and I have provided grooming service for the last 3-years running. The contract had expired this year and someone else has been award a 1-year contract. [I believe he was to begin on 12/24/08.]

There was never any audit and no serious penalty was ever given. As a matter of fact the Dardanelle Resort and/or Chuck and Cindy have never been given any type of penalty, what-so-ever.

I don't know who your source is but he or she should check their facts before posting such lies about reputable business people.

If anyone truly knows Chuck and/or Cindy (us) you know that they (we) do more for the public than any previous owner of the resort and never charge for extra services. I can't tell you how many times we ran the snow groomer to the gate and back (during the last 3-years) so all the riders would have a easy ride out and never billed for the service.

It's the little things we did to make people happy. We never asked to be paid, nor did we expect thanks for the services we provided to our guests and others.

So, before you believe everything you hear and read, ask us. We have nothing to hide but if you feel better believing the "stories of un-truths" go ahead it's your right.

So, I hope this clears up a lot of confusion, come visit us this summer.

And yes, the beautiful Dardanelle Resort is currently For Sale.

Sincerely,
Chuck & Cindy
