D800 assault idle problem

ok so my friend just bought a 2009 assault 800 from a guy off craigslist. the guy drove it to where he met us. when we test drove it, it would not idle at all, it just dies on the spot, but give it gas and it ran good. later on that night after we got it home. we stated it again and it idles just fine. WTF?? it has been like this for 2 days now. Sometimes it idles fine and sometimes it just dies. Any ideas!?? i have no idea what it could be. please help!

the sled just got the 2010 piston update, with only like one hour on the engine.
oh and we were planning on leaving for a trip to colorado in one week.

Could be something as simple as a TPS. Check compression as well.
But what I don't understand is that you test drove it and it wouldn't stay running, and you still let him buy it???

ok. Ill try checking them out.

I just rode along with him to get the sled. My friend rode it before he bought it. 5 times he tried starting the sled. it started fine with a touch of the throttle but if he let off it would die. I told him that i didn't like it, i just felt something wasn't right if it couldn't even idle. He was just to excited and bought it anyway.

Agreed, loose throttle play or Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) adjustment.
