D&D Twins on M1000

Hey guys, I just bought an 08 m1000 153 earlier this spring from a snowest member and it came with a speedwerx pipe, ypipe, and can, as well as a speedwerx intake. I rode it this spring in cooke city and the sled ran great, but I wasn't extremely impressed with the power. Just recently I bought a set of d&d twin pipes, rkt head, bd box, and a set of gauges. My question is, how hard are the d&d twins to tune, I don't want to be messing around all day and tuning on them. Also, is there a big difference going from a speedwerx single to the dd twins? What bd numbers are being used with both setups?
I would appreciate any help
Thanks in advance
Trent

I have D&D twins on my 07 m1000. They took a little while to tune but i think that was part to blame on being new to the bd box. Here are my numbers that I ran. I also took some weight of the Primary so i would pull 7800rpm's.

3000 -1 -2 0
5000 -3 -2 -1
6500 -2 -1 1
7200 2 4 8
7500 4 6 16
7800 6 9 21

Hey thanks for the info snowbound, how does it compare to stock. Do you think I would be better off with the twins instead of the speedwerx single? Also how is a guy supposed to check spark plug readings when the pipes are so damm tight in there. Sorry for all the questions, but I'm still not sure what way I want to go yet.
Thanks
Trent

It is a big improvement over stock. I dont know how it compares to the speedwerx single. That is the one thing that sucks, is checking plugs. I pulled them both for a while. They always looked the same. So now I just pull one on the Pto side. Twins also heat up everything under the hood, expect to melt some wires or cables. Heat tape everything and get some vents.

The twins make approx. 198hp on the dyno. There is no comparison in drag races or climbing with the stock set-up or speedwerx single. The single is a more consistant performer than the twins. One thing I noticed with the twins is once you get some heat built up under the hood it tends to bog. Turn the sled off for a minute and it runs like a champ.(2000ft) I noticed when we go to the mountains at approx. 5000 - 6000 ft it runs consistantly allday long. Maybe less power, less heat at altitude. I'll post my bd numbers.

Hey thanks torqmonster, that sounds good, I guess I will run the twins and see how I like them....yeah bd numbers would be great, looks like you have close to about the same setup that I have. I will mostly run 7000+ but if we get enough snow here in nd, I might take it out for a few miles.
Thanks again
Trent
