Cylinder Repair

I was not adding oil to the fuel, but I should have. Especially after talking with a dealer today, its a good idea to do that. He has about 3500 miles on his last years sled with no problems what so ever. Thats running a pipe and some other mods, but motor is stock. He also told me that they have 3 Pros in the shop right now, each with 1100 miles and each lost a lower rod bearing. None of them were adding oil to the gas tank.

Hay Tanner, What dealer are you dealing with?

How much oil are you adding to a full tank?

1 oz. per gallon. I'm no expert, but I can't see the oil added to the gas tank making it to the bottom of the crank case and lubing the crank bearings sufficiently. I am going to take mine apart and crank the oiler screw in 3 turns this spring. From what the guys are stateing in the Pro Ride section, this should get the sled to about a 32:1 - 40:1 ratio. IIRC they are set at 70:1 from the factory...Thanks to the EPA:face-icon-small-con
It is highly recomended to add the oil to the gas tank even if you turn the oiler screw up. The top end is not getting what is needed for the piston / rings.

yes, i add oil to the gas for the rings n pistons. I usually add 1/2 cup to 1 cup per full tank of fuel. depending on how much fuel i put in (6-8 gallons full cup, 2-4 gallons 1/2 cup). Its hard on spark plugs so carry extra

I went through Langcourt which is located back east. They did an excellent job on my 900 king cat jugs. One had to be welded, both had to be replated. Prices are $175 for a replate and $225 for a weld and replate.

I'm going through NorthStar on this ordeal. The guy I bought the sled from bought it from Northstar so they are seeing if theres anything they can do warranty wise.

My brother is one of the srevice tec's at Northstar
