Cylinder Repair

I've been having some motor issues so I was just wondering where the best place in the Logan/Ogden/Northern Utah area is to get my cylinder re-plated?

Thanks in advance!

Millennium ! http://www.mt-llc.com/ If it is stock (no porting or big bore) they should have one on the shelf that they will ship to you right away. Then they refund a portion of the cost when they receive yours.

X2 I wasn't in a hurry so shipped out Monday, replated one the following Tuesday!

What happaned to the pro? no warranty?

Thanks guys! Looking like millennium is the way to go.

So far I've only got the head off, but it looks like a piece of the PTO side piston ring broke off and scored the cylinder. One year warranty on the sled was up in January. :(

You'd think that with how much these sleds cost out of the crate they'd last more than 2000 miles. I'm starting to remeber why I hate Polaris. Love the Pro chassis, but before Polaris figures out how to lose more weight, they really need to figure out how to build a motor.

dude, polaris figured it out, its called 4 year warranty! sorry about the bad luck. Just out of curiosity, were you adding oil to the gas tank each fill up in addition to the oil from the oil tank?

Adding oil is it good or bad?
Topic in Pro section about this right now.

well 1500 miles on boosted pro last year, 800 on one 1 stock pro this year, and 600 on other stock pro this year. Always added extra oil to gas tank. 0 motor issues. 2 buddies that didnt add oil to tank lost pistons taking out crank on one of them.

Pretty sure motor never gets enough oil from the pump... :face-icon-small-fro

I was not adding oil to the fuel, but I should have. Especially after talking with a dealer today, its a good idea to do that. He has about 3500 miles on his last years sled with no problems what so ever. Thats running a pipe and some other mods, but motor is stock. He also told me that they have 3 Pros in the shop right now, each with 1100 miles and each lost a lower rod bearing. None of them were adding oil to the gas tank.

This is why I'm going turn up the oil pump while I've got everything torn apart.

And Phatty, my 13 will have a 4 year warranty :)

Local guy lost his Pro motor due to the oil cap/tank not venting (according to the dealer). It ended up taking out both cylinders and the oil pump! The pump was on 2 months back order, somehow they found one for him.

You were not running ethnal gas, I wonder if that would also have some effect. Know there is a resistor that has to be plugged in.
I sure hope that the station in Hyrum keeps selling the non ethnal next year.

We hit there a couple weeks ago, their pumps said it DID have ethanol in their fuel!

i thought the oil pump was the only way to oil the bearings in the bottom end? doesn't fuel/oil mix just end up in the cylinders?

There has been some debate in the Pro Ride section about this. Supposedly the angle of the injectors will only lube the top end if you add oil to your fuel. Since I have my sled all torn apart, I think I'm going to turn the oil pump up, AND add a little oil to the fuel.

More details please! So far, you're the first person I've heard to say anything bad about them.

Sent my jugs down for repair and replating and when I got them back and installed them they would wobble on the case. Couldnt figure it out so I drilled out the dowel hole(thought maybe they got some material in there some how) and tried again...no luck. Thought they might have warped the cylinder so I put it in anyway, torqued everything down, rode it and had antifreeze leaking through the base gasket. Took it apart and noticed that the cylinder skirts were bottoming out on the crancase....WTF. They added material to the bottom of my cylinder skirts...I had to grind over 2mm off of all the cylinder skirts and it was fine. I called them several times throughout the process to see if they dropped the cylinder or may have warped it during the repair process and of course the answer was no way, we would never do that. When I finally found the problem and called them on it....it was denied. No justification, explanation or even a hint that it may have be their fault.
Why would anybody add material to the bottom of cylinder skirts to begin with . Had previous work done there without a problem, but it was the lack of cooperation to help me diagnose the problem and the chitty customer service that will ensure I never do business there again.
