I find the pro taper bars a little wide for my likeing. Wondering if its possible to cut approx 1" off each end? or do I have to buy RSI bars to accomplish this?

You should have no problem, the bars have marks roughly 1/4" apart on each bar end to help with cutting them even.....

I just did this on my 12 take out the hooks then use an air compressor and airgun and blow the grips off of the bars.
Then peel the heat tape off the bars. I moved the brake and throttle levers in then put the heat tape as close as I could to the levers and cut the bars off with a sawzall.
Use air gun to blow grips back on. I had to drill out the inside of the bars with a 9/16 drill bit to get the hook all the way back in. About a 20 minute job like it alot better cut about and inch off each side.

What is the most you can cut and still have room for the giant throttle block? What do you mean by blowing the grips off/on with compressed air. Never done that.

Brake?

On the subject of handlebars, what is a good option for the pro-taper?

Find myself searching for a narrower bar that I can tip the brake further down on. The master cylinder catches on the bar in stock position on the pro-taper.

Saw FTX had a Yammie brake on the project sled, anyone know a # number?

You take the tip of the air blower and put it under the rubber grip. The air expands the grip and makes it eaiser to pull off and put back on.
