cutting out

My 16 Axys started cutting out randomly at wide open throttle. It will run fine and all of a sudden it acts like I fouled a plug. I let out of the throttle and get back on it and it runs fine. Has anyone else had something like this happen too? I changed plugs thinking one was fouling but it did it again later in the day.

Thanks

I just took my sled in for warranty work for the same problem. Above your clutches is a nylon bag with Velcro. Look closely at the wires going into a cylinder shaped relay. Mine was rubbed through and grounding out. Causing the exact issue you describe.

Yup, mine just did this yesterday. Twice on the trail up, and once on the trail down, but never on the hill.
It seemed to be right when it comes on the pipe, it usually opens up as usual, I assume as the exhaust valves open, or as per the 3 times, just kind of blubbers.
When it was falling flat, I let the throttle off and went back on and it all seemed fine again.
I will check the wires.....
There was no dash engine light when this happened.
The sled otherwise was running great and engine temp. was 52c (125f).

Its easy to hit the soft rpm limiter on the trail so don't get confused with that. Kinda a deep bog sound like starving for fuel.

I'm having a similar issue with mine, not sure if its snow buildup on the intakes or what but it never did this to me at all last year and now its doing it alot. I'll be going into a carve and it'll cut out/bog. or sometimes just going straight and hammering it and it just chokes. My intakes are covered with a fine layer of snow when this occurs but I don't see how thats the problem if it never did it last year in even deeper snow?

Mine has been at the dealer for 2 weeks same issue. Died on the Mountain 20 miles out. Changed spark plugs, relays, converter and still would not start. Had spark but was dead.
Two hours later and it started. Took it to the Dealer, the only codes it showed was for relays and converter. Replaced those twice and did not help. They said they could not find anything wrong and to come pick it up. While trying to load it up it would idle then die. Left it with the dealer. Still no codes and no answer. Very Frustrating!!

I agree with you that it likely isn't the snowdust. I don't clean mine often enough and don't have the problems at that point, in fact the times mine has acted up the intakes were clean.

Ok finally went out and checked the wires which turned into a top to bottom inspection since I had nothing better to do. Ended up putting dielectric grease in every non sealed connector I could find. Found one relay that was pretty corroded. Cleaned it up pretty well and greased it, then wrapped rubber tape around it. ended up re gluing whats left of my foam in the panels. Also found that at some point this year I must've tipped over and hit the clutch on a piece of wood cause there's a puncture in the plastic from the primary bolt and it had little bits of wood in it. Adjusted some suspension, checked the track, found out I need hyfax soon since there's about half a millimeter from the wear line. And changed the plugs, ones that came out were pretty dark, I can't for the life of me remember if I've changed them yet or not. I only got about 270 miles though. Oh well. Hope maybe my problem was that relay... doubt it tho. We'll see next time I go out I guess.

So took my sled out the other day for about an hour. No bog in the short time I rode, but somehow it seemed quieter, and maybe a touch less power? Idk if its all in my head or what. Any idea? or is it just a placebo?

the relay that was corroded was the one that is taped to the middle bar near the connectors for the exhaust sensor, there was 2 relays taped together. are either of those for exhaust valves? Maybe thats why its quieter?

Both of them are for the Exhaust valves- clean and reposition them up, so any water will fall out . Pack the wired ends with di-electric grease.

Should not make a difference in being quiet.
