cutting in vents??

I found the easiest way it to drill holes on the corners. Then use a sawzall with a 18T blade or higher and cut out in between them. Then use a metal file to square off the corners and clean up the rough edges.

Hey whats the best thing to use for cutting out the alumin. for the footwell vents??

I got a set of slp ones and want to get them installed.

Agree with using a jig saw after drilling the corners, I think some are thinking of cutting the running boards. It's a good idea to tape up the sides, the saw will scratch the aluminum.

Just did mine a couple weeks ago. Drill corners and use jigsaw but BE SURE TO PUT TAPE DOWN. It states this in the directions but after a few Jack and Coke's, I neglected this step and put some scratches on my aluminum. I also recommend throwing a sheet or towel over your entire motor, pipe, clutch, belt, and airbox. It makes a huge mess and although I covered everything very carefully, I still had to dig out pieces of metal. Good luck!!!

Drill the corners then jig saw the rest. Make sure to put tape over the alum. first.

lol you didnt take them off?? how many jack a cokes?

I used a Roto-Zip with a flex shaft extension ( http://www.rotozip.com/Shop/CategorySubBrowse.htm?IID=18?HID=6 )and a tile bit. Then i cleaned up the edges with a razor knife. Be sure to cover clutch and motor, you'll get a lot of shavings everywhere. Its easy clean up if you prep the area good first. A good vacuuming with a shop vac wouldn't hurt either.
I've heard some guys using a razor knife and a hacksaw too. I'm sure there's a lot of other ideas out there too.
A couple extra rivets in the middle of top and bottom cross pieces wouldn't hurt either.

Shock tower vent cutting?
What is the best tool to use on the plastic for shock tower vent cut outs?

I used a utility knife and a blow dryer to heat up the plastic to make it softer/easier to cut thru.
