Custom REV Vent

My dad and I built a vent today for the bottom of my clutch side panel. It went pretty good and cost me nothing. I had some extra mesh laying around and pieces of aluminum from building my s-chassis mesh hood! It crazy how people are buying $75 vents and I made this for free and 2 hours of work! :)

yeah, cheap vents can be made, my last sled had tons of venting and cost like 20 bucks for mesh and glue, only lesson i learned, attached it to the outisde, when its on the inside like that it tends to let snow stick to it and clog the vent.

props for somebody else who aint affraid to make there own stuff even if it doesnt look just so.

its fun to mark people with frankensleds.

well, i saw snow pack into the holes n sit there, but figured, if there isn't enough heat to melt off the snow, it must not be hot enough to really need to 'vent' there.

But most of my venting was for allowing heat to escape, up and out of the sled.
Holes in the top pod (speedo area), and in the shin/knee plastics usually always stayed clear of snow, due to the heat melting out any snow build up.
But I'm playing with the 'screen on outside' idea in a few key locations on my Nytro.. Will see how it holds up.

Nice job for trying.... but I personally don't like all the rivots showing like that. I've made a few different vents using plastic dog screen from home depot and used plumbers goop to glue it from the inside. Looks clean, and the glue holds in all temps and conditions. Just another idea...

I think a combination of both. By putting in top and bottom, you will supply more airflow across the clutches, and helping them cool faster, especially when sitting still. The cool air will be sucked in the bottom, and come out the top. Due to the compactness of the rev cowl, it needs all the help it can get to circulate the air. At least the vents should not let snow in, otherwise it just doesn't help that much.

The more airflow the better!!!......as long as its not clogged with snow..he he he

I also drilled shock tower vents and covered with mesh and used glue on them. I didn't want to rely on just glue for that large of an area. i personally like the riveted look. to each their own. ;)
