Custom Built Sleds

I'd love to see your sled on a scale, wet or dry. I have an edge as well with many similar mods and mine is over 100lbs heavier than yours dry...so call me a skeptic.

As far as the original topic, a guy with the user name winter on this forum builds some very light reliable sleds, but last I heard he was getting out of the game.

X2 but it is sad news that Shannon is pulling out of it. He had done 2 summits this year that are top notch. If he changes his mind I write him a check without hesitation

well brad wurston in logan ut built this motor I bought it off the swap meet last year he did a bunch of updates to the ignition for me beefed up the fly wheel housing. but no jokeing he is a hell of a guy to deal with and will make time to talk to you. ive been wanting to ride in montana for some time now maybe we can hook up and ride sometime this year and I can show you the 1200 and see what you think.

heack yeah we go to cooke about 2-3 times but if snow is good head over this way and we will go ride, I have some greatplaces. Also plenty of room so feel free to bunk here,ridings about 15 min from my house..:):)

I was planning on going to cook to but we are for sure going to have to hook up where ever is good for me when the snow is good let me know I will sneak away looking foward to meeting you in person it will be a hoot. feel free to pm me and we can work out a plan and exchange phone numbers let the snow fly.

Why spend the money on a custom sled, when the Xp 800 weighs in at 445?
need more power, turbo it up you could have probable got a left-over 09' in the summer for$7800 IMO

Good luck getting an xp to run with a turbo?????

If I wanted a good turbo 2 stroke I would look at an M8 with that C3 chassis but would need race fuel and a few rebuilds. However, I am prepared to give a few pounds up for my ultra reliable, stump pulling 4 stroke turbo'd Nytro, 'cos it sure is light spooled up :D:D:D

we could pop that nytro motor in a c3 chassis and it would be light!;)

Contact Budd Holt if you are thinking about going down the Arctic Cat road:

http://www.topcatmodz.com/

He built my sled "The Twisted Mini Panther" it is not the lightest modsled out there, but that was not my objective with this build. However, he can build custom to anyone's needs. & as light as you would like spend to get it there.

The workmanship is first rate & attention to detail is prevelent throughout this build. Check out my thread this will give you an example of his work.

Also, Shain Stanger's Twisted Turbos run consistantly well, are reliable, and have seasons & thousands of miles on them to back it up.

Nice Sled !!! Im guessing u like orange???;);)

Really nice quality work, nice to see stuff like this still being built..:beer;:beer;

I see lots of money rolling by. I bet it is a blast to ride though. How well does that Carbon Fiber hold up. I have never been around carbon fiber. Is it a long term investment?

Looks good.

thanks, yeah speed costs money...uhg !! :( Carbon fiber done right is really amazing stuff, strength is unreal and NO flex to speak of at all.

I just couldn't bring myself to ride an XP chassis, LOL. I think I've spent enough already but will stop in and see you guys when I am in Salmon arm this winter:beer;

can go m-series instead.;) looking forward to your visit.:beer;:beer;

I had some issues with the CF trailing arms. They do not bend like steel ones if you hit something, they snap, spear the bellypan and can go right into the clutch, ask me how I know. Then you also have a bent shock and radius rods and have to get very creative to ride out.

Very light, and fine if you never hit a rock or stump but, I bought lots of replacement shafts, probably six in two years time. If I were to do it again I think I would want lightwieght metal trailing arms, or a beater sled for early and late season:)

she's 435lb and never let me down all year. I did have one minor misshap of my own dueing. I could have gotten lighter but I wanted strangth, she went end over end 4 times and still looks like this.

Yeah I looked at there review in the mag a while back. Always thought they were cutting edge place but lately with that old Edge Chassis they are losing it. They need to get with the times and move to newere chassis and quit trying to make the old one work. Still a nice ride though:beer;

Actually they use a GenII bulkhead.

I have HEARD for a couple months about an A-arm CMX but nobody has produced pictures of one yet.

Yup

Actually they use a GenII bulkhead.

What I was thinking, but figured it was obvious to those that really pay attention to those types of details. I figure it is stronger than the edge bulkhead and lighter/simpler than the new Aarm bulkhead. Like the front suspension matters on those, the skis only touch the snow when the rider is eating lunch.......

Look in Modstock or Snowest's gear issue, right there is the CMX front end, and its handily attached to a CMX tunnel and some custom footrests, but no news on the site about it.
