1377384_10151932958108210_1224513599_n.jpgHey guys, couple of you were wanting pictures on my all black tunnel wrap when it was done...well here it is..

I picked up some gloss black vinyl sheets from my local decal guy. The top of the tunnel i did dry by myself and it SUCKED. Took forever and got a couple small creases and a few tiny bubbles scattered. Sides i did "Wet" and with help of the gf turned out nice! Patience is the key! Let the sides dry overnight and took a blow dryer to the rivets and poked a couple tiny holes around them and pushed the air pockets out with squeegie and then went around them with my fingernail and turned out great!

Looks awesome! The gloss black looks great. Where'd you get the vinyl from?

Thanks! I liked the idea of doing it myself so i could call it "my own" $200 for a precut one was not cutting it for me so i figured i would save some $$ being that i had to install it myself even if i did buy a pre cut one. I just went to my local guy that had made my registration number done for me. Just took length measurements and went to him and got a couple sheets. Think he only charged me like $60-70?

You can find it all over ebay or amazon. But I would recommend 3M 1080 or Oracal 970RA both allow for air release for bubble free install, no need for water. Just use a hair dryer to apply.

Nice!

I like the all black minimalistic look, I did mine in matte black. Bought enough vinyl for two tunnels on ebay for 70bucks. I have found the best quality and easiest to put on is the 3m auto spesific vinyl with air escape holes:)

Heres a pic of mine!:)

What's the best way to cut the pieces? Do you make templates first? Do you guys put the sheet on and then trim it with a razor?

Looks good :)

Any local sign company should have the vinyl. Trim to approximate size and then final cut with a razor when done. It's time consuming as hell IMO and definitely works best now while ambient temps are up. I did mine in all white last year in a somewhat cool garage and it definitely sucked.

Just did the daughter's rifle in pink camo! Looks great!

go to mossyoak.com and watch their videos on installing wraps on atv's, trucks, etc. Same concept - and most of their products are not pre-cut. They just start with a big sheet and go.

I did mine in gloss black and went over the brackets and into all the oval holes. Good quality material makes a huge difference. You can put a propane torch right too this stuff to stretch/shrink it and it doesn't burn it. I only did the sides as my tunnel is covered with bags. Eric

From my experience, the matte holds up to boot scuffs much better than the gloss. But the tunnel edge pieces will need replaced every season. No biggie since the Polaris tunnel has the slot system which makes it easy to just replace 4" strips on each side. I love wrapped tunnels. I purchase my vinyl from here:
Metrorestyling.com

The stuff I use is also what I use on my dirt track stock car and it holds up VERY well. It has a clear protective overlay that not only sheads snow but when it does get scuffed from your boots you can clean it up and then use the propane torch and the flame takes the scratches right out and makes it look like new again. What brand is this, and where do you buy it? Does it come laminated with the clear overlay, or do you have to get it done at a sign shop?

Orafol is the brand, my stuff is all Ink Jet printed so the laminate gets installed after the solvents vent out of the paper. You can buy solid colors with the laminate already installed. I buy through a sign shop but you can get it off ebay. Eric

Friend of mine got his professionally done. The guy used fishing line under the wrap so he just pulled it and it cut nice sharp square edges. Not sure if he stuck them to it first or taped the line to the tunnel first?

Thanks for the positive feedback guys! I didnt cut out my holes on the sides of the tunnel I just eent over them and when I was done I took a blow dryer and went around the edges of the holes and pressed them down. Doing that also tightened up the vinyl going across them so it gave it a flat looking surface down the side of the tunnel. Ya im going for a black n blue theme. I dont want to go too crazy like some peoples sleds just want to keep it simple. So rails and a arms arms are going to be black and shock springs blue along with spindles and rear skid pieces. Cant wait till she is done!!
