For the last month or so I have started the assembly of my new computer.

I started with a Switchback 810 Full size case.

For an optical drive I went with a Blueray drive from LG
Also for a main storage drive I'm using a 2TB WesterDigital 3gb/s

For a OS drive I'm using a Corsair Force 3 240GB SSD

Currently, I have also purchased my memory and PSU.
I'm doing Corsair Vengance 32gb (4dimm) @1600MHz and for a power supply I'm doing a 1200watt SilentPro.

On the list I still need my GPU, CPU, and MOBO.
MOBO- Maximus IV

CPU- 2700k

GPU- On the fence but it's between a 690 and 580... I would eventually be doing 2 or three way SLI.

Forgot to mention I need case fans and also am using a H100 CPU cooler.

A few months? Hmm. Thou hast not had a real life job me thinks. Money is actually a finite object to the majority of peeps. But this has been beaten to death with you already. :face-icon-small-dis

I'm on about my 3rd month of doing this... The only reason it's taking so long is because of my d@mned knee taking money away from this build.

Total cost? I'd say around $1600- $2300 depending on which GPU's I go with. I was also looking at some other things like a sound card and a PVR so add another $400.

I was planning on this computer lasting me into college at least. That's the biggest problem with the new technology though. I don't know how long until it's obsolete.

you can't ever keep up with computers.. best to spend the least amount possible on them as they are disposable..

I limit 500 bucks to my builds.. try to anyways..

The future of chips / processors and their being able to replace graphics cards are going to be great!!

Most people have/buy way more computer than they need. 90% of users surf online, check email and use ms word/office. That's it. Maybe a little photo storage.

Which is very much true. With school now and all the outrageous projects and gaming in mind, that's where all my decisions on parts came from

well as far as being obselete yes, they are old right after you build them, BUT that doesnt mean they wont run games plenty fast for 3 years or so. it is just if you can live with not having the latest and greatest...

Picked up some new shiny GPU's yesterday!

Came up to $1000 with tax! :face-icon-small-sho

Final decisions now.

Motherboard :

P8Z77 Premium $450
3770k $340

Then case fans and this build is pretty much done!

a knee taking money away from your computor..??

In Canada , if we have a knee injury our governmemt gives us a free computor for something to do during the free health care rehab on the knee as the disibility cheques are delivered by sexy secretaries willing to do a massage as the room service food is being delivered to the room in the fancy hotel paid by the government...ahhhhh
Canada..lol...

me thinks you should save for college or something, a computer half of this would play anything out there just fine.

Minten,

I sure hope you do something cool with computer. If you post 3DMark scores or something retarded like that your computer should drop kick you in the face!

Its a powerful rig you are building, make it earn its keep!

So how much do your parents have tied up in this computer?

About $450. The only thing I needed help for was my second GPU. It literally has taken weeks just to find something in stock and I wanted identical cards and they're just so hard to find. I'll pay them back though. No worries.

Do you work? How will you pay them back?

Surprisingly I have started doing my own little torturing thing... I'll help from geometry to dreaded language arts. Usually stay with my class. I can make pretty good money too. I'm not asking nearly as much and can usually do just as good of a job...

That also explains a lot of my absence here.

Ps. Football started yesterday!
