haven't seen or heard about it myself. but I bet it happens. so far Ive had 2 edge drag comps fail and my edge ez kicked the bucket 2 weeks ago.so I can't say Ive had the best of luck with edge stuff. smarty was reliable but had weird throttling issues from time to time,with a new vp44 and tps. not to mention after years of driving with it installed on sw8 i could really start to feel when the fueling just stopped and the top end was no different than a stock truck.my buddy on the otherhand has had a juice with attitude and it has been bullet proof.like all add on boxes it doesn't hit hard on the bottom like the smarty but has smooth power from 1200 rpms and up. anyone need a smarty for a vp truck?

How bout you just buy a chevy then you wouldn't have to mod it out..
You obviously have not owned both trucks..........
Yeah I have also seen alot of comp boxes and edge products in general go down, but the failure rate around here for the FMS has been really high. Theres not that many out there compared to edge so sheer numbers of say failure rate per 100 would put edge ahead with a more reliable product. Havent dealt with the FMS personally with getting it fixed but edge for me has given me some pretty good customer service/warranty issues, same goes for smarty, dealing with bob wagner and marco!
The problem seems to be with the VP44 guys is that the forward engineering kinda took a back seat to the new HPCR 5.9/6.7 guys which goes hand in hand from a business stand point. All I can say is that the new 6.7 stuff is awesome!!! If marco would go back and do some more VP44 stuff I think it would be a whole new ball game!
Iam sure marco gave up on the vp trucks for a reason. I still have a mads ecm from before he made the smarty. was flashed in march of 04, and the tune was no different from the smarty handheld programmers. sucks to hear about the bad fms boxes.really making me think twice about buying one though...not sure if I can give edge anymore money. they warrantied my comps but my ez is an older unit that has an epoxied board and they won't swap it out. thanks for the heads up. matt

Because the last two duramax diesels I had were the worst two investmants of my life.
my buddy has a 02 duramax, i drive a 08 duramax to work (110km each way) and they dont compare to a truck that has been modded. I have a 02 cummins 6spd with RV275 injectors, banks quick turbo, 4 inch exhaust and a edge juice with attitude w/ hot unlock code and i love this truck for hauling sleds, there are steep hills around here and i never had to shift down out of 6th unless im slowing down because someones in the way.
The smarty has great low end power but falls on its face in the high end, thats why it makes a good stack with a juice w/attitude. Keep the smarty on and then regualte the power as needed with the juice.
