Cummins and Balljoints

60K miles is the average on 03-07 vintage trucks that we get on trade....if it doesn't need them at 60K and you sell the truck without doin them, customer will be back next oil change pissin and moanin. Heavy duty my arse...

But regardless, 10K miles is insane, unless you take jumps on your way to work everyday, something else is wrong. They suck, but they don't suck THAT much.

1998 150,000 miles, mostly paved roads, trailers in the winter, no lift, original tire size, no front end problems. 2005 60,000 miles, mostly highyway, trailers in the winter, original tires, no problems. Are most of the problems occuring when lifted and equiped oversized wheels and tires?

2001 dodge

I wet 70,000 and full front end job, 2600 bones. I relplaced with Lukes Links. I sold the truck shortly after, but good product for sure. Lukes Link, google it.

bigger tires make the problem much worse due to the leverage the tire put on the ball joints . then wider rims make the wore out ball joints seem worse then they are as well . Ive gone through 4 sets in 120 000 km on my 07 . i do work on lease roads quite a bit and pull heavy loads . Kevin at HRT off road is hooking me up with a set of bullet proof upper and lower ball joints as well as a steering box brace . hopefully this helps things out . another problem could be you re track bar if you have a lift and it didn't come with one . I put one on and it helped out my tracking problems

Just replaced mine @ 62k. Put 37's on around 40k, previously running 35's from 20-40k. Either way, really glad I bought that extended warranty, only cost me $100. I'm definitely selling my truck before that warranty goes up.

Well, according to the stealer, mine "went" at 75,000 kms.

Of course, they were replacing the u-joints, under warranty, but while they were in there, the ball joints needed replacing.

I used to really enjoy driving my truck. Drove straight as an arrow, and was perfect in every way.

Then I put in the MOOG greasable adjustable ball joints. Stealer charged another 100 for an allignment, and the fawkin thing is all over the road, following every rut, and driving it to Whistler, I look like a drunk.

Took it to another allignment shop, and they corrected most of it, but it still isnt what it was like before I had them install the new ball joints.

This is on a 2006 Mega Cab 3500. The tires were wearing nice and even, i should have told the dealer to pound sand, and leave the damn thing alone.

Hindsight... still 20/20 after all these years. I was hoping it would need glasses by now.
