Rhett McCormick owns land and his full time residence is located near the fire station to the northwest.

Davenjw....we would love to have a station like you describe, just no way we can afford it...small volunteer only department with very limited funds and resources.

thats what this entire deal is about? your trying to force a snowmobile road to be plowed for a tiny 2 bay shop?


I figured we were talking a real substation with a decent office area, something that people would actually inhabit waiting for calls.

This is a volunteer outfit jw. No one stays at the station, they are alerted and respond from their home/work etc.
I believe Chief said a couple of them live very near this building. (at least the one who gave the property should)

Yeah, it was originaly utilized as a storage building, I'm guessing that's when this picture was taken as it doesn't look insulated in the pic, now the FD wants to utilize it as a station in winter (as it IS in summer) . . . . keep in mind also that you won't be transported in a vehicle from this station, (BLS only) you will be stabilized as best they can and held for the transport (coming from somewhere else) that will take you to the hospital, unless the roads are bad enough the transport can't get there or they are over loaded.

Please give me a call when you have time and I will try to answer all of your questions brought up above.

Let me be clear on one thing, I was not in court or at the hearing...one of the fire commissioners was there in attendance, I had to work that day at my "real" job.

Another point, we tried to contact WSSA over this issue and sent the president copies of our paperwork, proposed solutions, etc as well have actually attended WSSA board meetings in the past and giving presentations on the issue etc.

Also, for Wendell's benefit...hard to hire someone back at 1/3 of volunteer wages???

so it is a power trip , control thing for you???

or are you guilty of being spoiled government retirement wealthy and want to give back??

were you there at the spectacle at gold creek from the poor guy that went missing and got under his sled and died?

Then the rescue peeps had him on display for all to see ...frickin dispicable

Anyone check out the million dollar plus digs they call a fire department near the ski resort. it looks nicer than any of the ski lodges. Should have saved a little cash and built an average building and used the excess for better causes. You can't tell me that the Snoq. fire station just out of Hyak cannot respond to Price creek, Kachees, Gold creek and all other close snoparks and you just have to have wheeled vehicles @ Crystal.

I am with Bagger 100% on this but don't forget that we are talking about a volunteer effort working out of a small garage like space. Not your typical tax payer funded fiasco.
