Crested Butte to Aspen via Pearl Pass

We rode out of Taylor Park up to Aspen and back with the RZR's this past summer. Awesome trek, beautiful scenery, and was also about 95 miles round trip from the Trading Post. A few spots could be sketchy in the wrong conditions, but once you get past Taylor Pass toward Aspen things open up and flatten out a bit. We actually saw a sled parked in the trees when we went through in August....

Didn't do it, but I'd check with the guy at Taylor res. store about best route. Quinton we should try this one day.

Nope but plan on doing a route survey via ATV in a couple of months to see if it is within my skill level to consider tackling next winter.

Don't know if they did it in winter, but sounds like in the old days the miners would ride over the pass and trash each others towns.

Always thought it would be cool to ride over for a day during the x-games.

I have rode Pearl on a dirtbike a few times
scouting it in the summer would be a good idea,
but I think you still would run into some windblown rocky areas
and slide areas

I rode the area for many years on dirtbikes before starting to sled there in the mids 90s and can attest that things look way different in the winter.

Not sure how you would get to the top of Taylor Pass from Ashcroft on a sled to pick up the ridge trail to Aspen

According to conditions it could be a long day(or two) to ride there and back
