I have a 700 dragon that I am re assembling the crank cases my local snowmobile shop recommended using Napa "right stuff" instead of 3m Products. For the sealant between the cases. What do you think?

I've never heard of "Right Stuff" and if your NAPA is like ours, the employees can't find their own azzes. I would shy away from unknown substitutes. In a pinch I've used Ultra Grey RTV which Napa does carry. FWIW

The Rite stuff is a good compound I use it in calking tube form .
But I still use yamah bond or honda bond a solid anaerobic compound to seal cases .
oh a big tube is @ 35.00

Right stuff is a Permatex product and is very good. I have used it for about 15 years. With that said, Its not the correct product to use on case halves. I always use Yamabond on cases. Eric

that shop is giving you bad advise yamabond, threebond, hondabond, etc only use products specifically designed for motor cycle or snowmobile crank cases it is cheap and one tube lasts for ages, auto motive type silicon sealants are gasoline soluble and should not be used were gas is present . it is not worth the risk to use incorrect sealants when the proper type is readily available .

We use Three Bond 1194. The residual thickness when dry is important. I'm sure any of the high quality Yama or Honda products will produce the same results. Also works great on the head bolt in the water jackets.
