CRANCASE FILLING WITH OIL,05 800

Just a guess, but it would have to be 2-stroke oil and the only way to really get it in there is through the dipstick port. Any chance you have a leak in the oiling system above that point?

Sounds like you have a possible leaking crank seal. There is a chamber in the center of the crank that is filled with oil to lube the water pump/oil pump shaft gear and it has seals on both sides on the crank. It gets its oil from the oil tank in an open loop that goes in to this chamber and back out to the tank. Check your oil tank cap to be sure the vent is working, if it is not expansion in the oil tank in the warm summer temps can push oil past these seals. If your cap vent is OK you most likely have a bad seal.

He said 05 800 the pump is on the side of that motor. And i think he is talking the crank case not the chain case. How much oil? There will always be a puddle in there and more after it sits as 2 stroke oil does not stay in place very long.(gravity)I would say the breather in the cap asa well.

Interesting comments so far, which don't apply to your sled.

The 05 800 doesn't have a dipstick port or a center oil/water pump. It has lines that come from the oil pump on the pull starter housing to the 2 carbs, mag side crank bearing and PTO side bearing.

Check your oil bottle vent to see if it is venting correctly. Its in the cap. You can test if the oil bottle is building pressure by simply spinning the cap loose and letting it sit... if you don't get any oil in to the case then you know the cap vent is bad and when the sled warms up it builds pressure in the bottle and forces oil past the pump in to the lines and in to the bottomend.

What oil are you using? If you are using full synthetic than it can for sure leak past the pump mechanism and in to the lines. You haven't messed with the lines or fittings on the crankcase/carbs have you? They have one way check valves built in to them to prevent back flow, but you can force oil through them pretty easy the other way, and they are VERY small anyway so something has to be building pressure to force oil through them.

Oil can leak though the oil pump and fill the case. I've seen it on doo's and cat's, no reason it can't happen on a poo. If the oil pump still funtions alright just make sure to leave your tank empty or pinch the line off, otherwise replace the pump. Pull the feed lines off and see which one is leaking and plug it off. Usually only one side leaks though. I had a friend blow his doo up after his case filled with oil, he somehow get it started and reved it up. Knocked out a rod and the crank!

YES DIGGER IT MAKES SENSE. I LOOKED AND OIL HAS TO PASS THRU PUMP TO GET IN CRANK CASE. WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS HAPPEN AND WHAT THEIR FIX WAS. GONNA TAKE THE TIME AND UNHOOK LINES AND SEE IF IT LEAKS. NEVER HAD THIS BEFORE SO I THOUGHT ID THROW IT OUT THERE TO YOU GUYS. THANKS FOR INPUT. :face-icon-small-sho

The fittings in the carbs and case require slight pressure to flow. That's why I was thinking you might have a bottle pressurizing on you.

IIRC those oil pumps dont last forever, and are kinda gravity fed when sitting anyways....
i would also switch to non synthetic oil, JMHO.

THANKS FOR THE RESPONSES. I PUT A NEW CAP ON AND TOOK SLED OUT OF THE BLACK ENCLOSED TRAILER,(HOTTER THAN BLAZES IN THERE), I PARKED IT IN POLE BARN AND MARKED OIL LEVEL. HAVNT SEEN ANY PROBLEM SO FAR.
