Cracked Pistion Wall

Sometimes better lucky than good. I have been trying to detedct my oil over consumption issue and decided to check my pistons since I needed to check the o-rings. Once I got the cylinder off, piston did not look that bad so was gonna just put the cylonder back on. Started rotating the shaft to get the pistons in place and notice a large crack on the back of the piston wall. I have attached a picture. Needless to say I am going to change both pistons.

How can I tell what brand of pistons they are? I do not think OEM becasue I have a new set of the '06 OEM and they look different. On the underside of the piston looks like the some fancy letter symbol on one side and the letters S1 on the other.

Thanks

You are one lucky guy to find those before they grenaded you engine. What year is your sled? Those could be 05 pistons.

WOW :O.... that is a lucky catch!!!! ive only seen em after the crack went all the way thru(booom)!. x2 is these 05 pistons?

As I said better lucky than good.

The sled is an 05. But they do not have of the typical polaris markings on them. The metal "feels" different than the '06 pistons. The guy I bought it from said he repalced the pistions. So my guess, if he did, that these are some aftermarket? That was about 2 years and 300 miles ago.

Thanks
