Cracked panel/frame

After a ride, I noticed a crack just behind the bolt that attaches the front arm to aluminum plate side panel. This is on the right side. The crack is vertical about an inch behind the bolt. The aluminum plate side panel is webbed in this area. I have the flex front arm. Just wondering if it might be flexing these panels. Otherwise it appears I hit something, although I did not feel even the slightest bump. Anyone else have any cracks in these aluminum side panels?

May be a dumb question, but is the crack only the paint or right through the aluminum?

Crack

The crack was thru the plate. Welded today and rode all day. My first real ride in deep snow. What a hoot. Had a blast. Still smiling..

I have crinkled the side plate just forward of the same mount when I hit a rock up near the driver bearing and that was the weak spot that gave in but wow no crack like that ,looks like a 2012 kit did you buy it used are you sure it wasnt damaged before and straightened causeing a fracture and finally cracked

Vmax, it was used but very good condition. It was not cracked prior. It looks worse in the photo because I had filed away the power coat and filed a grove for welding.

I've seen a few bend right there after an impact. Any cracks will be from flexing not usually an impact. It looks cool etc but IMO the kit would be quite a bit more stout without the webbing cuts. After my buddy bent his we pulled the side panel and I welded a huge gusset over the whole thing, it's bomb proof now and unless you are looking you don't even notice really.
