CPI Racing Stinger Can

Are any of you running an SLP Single pipe with a CPI Racing Can? How does it sound? Any performance increase? I have a buyer for my SLP can if I made the switch is why I'm asking.

i run slp pipe with cpi can and it is loud but i like it that way. runs fine and when it was stock i picked up a little throttle response, my brothers on the other hand runs better with the slp can than the cpi. fwiw

running the CPI can and SLP pipe on both of my 900s...LOVE the CPI can, only other can i would get is a SKINZ...but CPI is great!

sorry for this little hijack, hope its ok, but I'm curious. I bought a used cpi can of a member here, and i got it mounted today(to stock pipe)...but it hits the chain case cover and I'm worried that it might melt it.
Are yours sitting so close to the chain case?
and that bracket on the back side, what are that for? its close to nothing at all on my sled.
And is it supposed to sit a spring from that loop down at the bottom to...say...the stock bracket down below the recoil?

thanks :cheer2:

something is wrong with how you have it mounted. There is a vibration isolator that the stock muffler used that the CPI bolts to.

well, its about 3.5 inches below the vibration isolator and not really in line with it either, it point allmost straight towards the break disc.
The can looks...hmm, to big, it kind of don't fit all that great against the pipe(no leak but at an angle) and then there is the hitting the chain case thing, it feels as though the pipe should be angled more towards the fender in order to make the can fit good...and that make no sense. but it is the can pictured on the cpi website for the 900s, so i must have something on wrong

I'll post a picture of it on when I get it back together, tonight if someone else has not posted a picture by then.

maybe the guy you bought it off of had it mounted on some other sled and he moved the mounting brackets!?!? if ya got a welder it would be pretty simple to install the proper mounting bracket, the cpi can on my 2006 900 mounts up just like zmans!

Here is how it mounts and how much clearance you should have.

ehh...ok...I don't have that mounting point, my stock can mounts to the plate behind the breakdisc via long bracket on the top of the can.
I can post a pic when i get home

Edit: I have a 2006, maybe that has something to do with the mounting points?

There are two rubber isolating mounts for the stock muffler. One just behind the chaincase and one towards the front on the bolt in side plate. They are both the same so if you are missing the back one you can remove the front mount and bolt it in the rear position.

the problem is not that im missing a rubber thingy, the problem is that i dont have that mounting point at all.
i took this photo with my cell my last night, its bad but it gives you an idea of what im talking about.

ok some pics then.
The one where I'm holding it is roughly where it needs to be to get the clearance z-man has in his pic

so you have an 06 900 then.

that isolater mount is lower on the 06...if i get a sec ill go look at my 05 and 06 and see the difference in mount location.

looks like you are going to need to modify the bracket to make it go to the rubber mount.

sorry didnt get a chance to check it out earlier...

the 06 rubber mount is diffinately higher then the 05 is.

the only thing i can think of this.

maybe CPI sells the cans for both the 05 and 06, but they have different mounting brackets.

you should give CPI a call and confirm this.

your other option is to re-weld the bracket so it works for you..
