CPC or Boondocker? Since we got off topic on the last thread

So bac on topic. Me(2010 m8) and my buddy(2012 proclimb 8) want to boost our sleds this season. We are very undecided. We are now between CPC stage 1 and the boondocker pump gas turbo setups. Both sound like real good kits but not sure which ov the 2 are the best.

Me and buddy are same setup as as you two. But I'm on the PC. Both did stage 2 cutlers last season. Did both our own installs and never had a problem. There amazing!! The PC with stage 2 you get the 4 injectors which i wanted. My buddy with stock injectors an stock HO head ran up to 12 lbs at elevation but on long pulls the two injectors start to lean out. We run em both at 10 all day an never look back. Definite vote for cutler.

How did you come to those two and rule out Twisted and OVS?

I have a BD PG kit on my 2010 M8 with all the gadgets and it has always run well. I put up with the occasional bog and burble off idle in favor of touching the box (which is ludicrously counter-intuitive to use.) 1300 boosted miles and it's been pull n' go besides one DD failure (before the 5203 bearing went in) and one secondary clutch failure.

However, if I were to do it again I'd insist on something with a tial wastegate. I'm no expert, but I've ridden many boosted sleds and nothing has compared to the throttle response of my OVS propane, which has the tial. I'd like to try their race-gas kit to see if that's really what's making the difference.

IMO it's wasting money to not go to a stage II on the M.

On the 2012, I haven't run a stage II yet, but since it now has 4 injectors I'd assume we can get even more boost out of it, but VOHK is installing 4 injectors even in the pump gas PC kits now... I wish I could ride a few of the PC's boosted back to back.

I cant speak for BD stuff but I know that Cutlers stuff is top notch. I ride with a guy with 5k + boosted miles on his M8 cpc turbo with ZERO issues.

Me and my buddy wanna try stay on straigt pump gas. We ride at 2000 feet at home and in the mountains. In our understanding we can run 4psi at 2000 feet on 91 prem. Yes at 4psi it won't be boosted so much but IMO a stock cat rips good enough for down at home. Any guys have any issues tunning the boon box on the BD?

And as for running twisted. To many guts saying there not sure wat stranger is doing. Were he is etc. I've heard good about his kits but Leary. And as for OVS there isn't enough guys running them at least on here to give good opinions on them. I run only one sled and if it runs like crap all season well there goes my fun. BD and CUT seem to be the Closest to pull and go as u can get. Just undecided between the 2

Dunno how the boon boxes r now but I hated tryin to fine tune mine on my piped 1000. All the variables with rpm an low mid high. Just really found it a pain.

--You could look into a Push kit as well. He uses stainless exhaust(would help with corrosion in humid climate) and tial setups. Also located down low so he is familiar with low altitude turbo setup.

--What is nice about OVS is they run a 2871 equivilent, Comp oiless, Tial. Fewer components and less weight without oil pump. Can also add Water to air setup for higher boost on lower octane fuel due to less heat(also should be able to run less boost for same power due to denser, cooler charge temp).

--oops, off topic, boondocker or cpc

We all said that before boosting.. then we realize that we can make WAY more power by adding very little race gas or av to the tank...

To spend 90% of the money, but not have the ability to turn it up is what I mean by a waste. With a stage II you can still run low boost, but you can also turn it up.

ALSO, a factor many don't think about, more fuel means you can wash away det when you're on the edge.

When you haven't spent much time around boost you think you're going to have an "easy" setup by sticking with PG, but the fact is, with Cutler at least, going to the ability to add more boost is still really simple, and still lets you do what you THINK you want to do... but also lets you do what I KNOW you'll want to do eventually:face-icon-small-win

How much boost can u pull out of a bd pump gas kit if you run a little av gas? Also, do these kits require re tuning when boost is adjusted, or running at 2000ft then 7000ft? I'm pretty sure bd doesn't but I'm not familiar with the attitude box that fuels the cpc kit.

been there

done that boondocker pg kit. boondocker straght pump gas at 1000-2500 ft u can run up to 7lbs boost ,need 09 head. race kit straight pump gas about 8-9 ,need 09 head. 100ll gas 12lbs all day long. traveling no problem from home 1500-2500ft to 7000ft (Mcall Id) to Alpine Wy 6000-9000 to back home no fuel tunning just acouple adjustments to the ebc for boost to keep it at 12 psi thats the beauty of the bd system.

Running 7 psi on 91 pump at 2000 feet?

i was scared of the BD box last year whe i first started with my turbo, very easy for me to tune with both an afr and egt guage. mine is a little fat at idle right now which doesnt bother me much since i dont let it idl much other then to warm up, on the BD box most of your tuning is done on the psi screen, plus it has a max boost feature and intake temp feature both i use alot. FWIW i like my boonedocker kit, WITH THE EXCEPTION of my oil res. BD really pissed me off with the fact they design something that doesnt work as well as expected IE it leakes all the time, then they charge you what i think is a stupid amount to update the bad design. other than that no issues but my next kit will have a self contained oil set up for sure. Good luck and enjoy the boost you will never want to go back.

topic

back on track only thing i can say about the cutler kit is with front dump exhaust if u pass someone on their left you might get a look, there loud .the one i rode with ran good, he always wore ear plugs so i think it annoyed him too.
