Coupled skid

Ok I have a renegade with 136 x1.75 track coupled the the couple stops cut back a .25". My problem is I want more track and for it and for it to trench less

So I mite be putting a new skid and track in my Xp if I do that I'll probably swap that skid and track in but if I don't should I put extensions on the original skid or find a different skid

It is my back up slash girl friends sled we live in the northwest and I want it to preform good but I don't want to dump a ton of cash in it either

Yes your right I was planning on going with new drivers any ways

Mainly wanting to know what people think of the stock coupled skid I've seen them stretch out does the help with the trenching or is my track the main problem with it trenching I love riding the sled just need to make it better

kind of in the same situation. Mine started life as a renegade X with 136x16x1.25. Before I even rode the sled I put on a 144x15x2 and regeared to a summit, used extensions.

Now I am thinking of going to a 151x16x2.31 because the 144 does not cut it when I go out west and they get a big dump.

So with that said, I am going to use extensions again, run a 9 tooth 2.52 driver in lieu of a 10 tooth. Regear at 19/45 and call her a day. I have a Dynamo Joe clutch kit already my only concern is the coupling like your saying.

I was just gonna flip the rear blocks and see what happens.

Ya I got my couple blocks to skinny side and I cut the stops back .25" which helps and with the summit front end it now side hills great I'm just try to make it handle better in the deep

I have 19-45 gearing know I was thinking 19-47 and I still need a clutch kit

I want to put 163 on my Xp so I'm going to put 154 on the renegade I'm thinking just use the stock skid for now

I had a 162 with Summit skid under this thing for a few years(stock was a 144)
Last year I took it back to a 150x2.5 and a Renegade skid. SLP Extensions. 9" idlers.

Worked well, after 10 minutes on a really rutted trail the shocks fade, but other than that, I really enjoy the coupled skid. Works well all the way around, just need to upgrade the shocks(maybe torsionless in the future)

This sled is a whole lotta fun again. The 162 performed well, but the 150 brought the FUN back into riding.

I have not been up close and personal with the XP or Rev Renegades so my question
for you guys is whats the angle of attack of the track from skid to drivers compared to Summits. If its steeper on the Renegade that is likely a lot if not some of the trenching.

In Nov 07 I built my TNT into a mtn mod and moved the skid back near 4 inches and then added extension plates to make up the difference to go from 120 to 137. Last winter made new extension plates when changing to 141 X 15 X 2.25.

I started doing it this way back in about 1990 when long tracking Phazers, it helps a bunch.

Good Luck

moving the skid back too far will cause some problems ive heard. the drivers want to hold onto the track and shove the track into the rail tips. and i have the coupled skid under my summit/mxz. i cut the coupler stops off my rails and took the couplers off.
