Couple looking for other couples to ride with

Thunder Mountain Lodge

I just wanted to make an announcement to any of you looking for a new riding spot to check out. Thunder Mountain Lodge on the Grand Mesa! Tons of groomed trails and boondocking for days. I am proudly taking over the operation this winter and feel this is a hidden gem. Hundreds of frozen lakes at 10,000ft to shred powder on, and the boys can try their luck in the steep trees. I have guides, 2014 Summit X rentals, and 8 sweet cabins for rent. Just a little shameless promotion...Thanks Oh, about 4 hours from Denver.

cateye,
We have rode GM quite a few times, stayed at thunder mtn lodge before it burned down, didnt like the cabins. i am spoiled, have to have TV and where we are located, had to settle for hughes net for internet. Have big bull elk in the back yard most every night that i watch on cctv ptz. We would love to ride as soon as theres good snow, stay in touch.

I keep thinking someone is going to type...this is useless without pictures!!! LMAO!!! My wife and group of peeps have great girls who ride with us!

The wife and I loved sleds until we bought 09 800 dragon and a 09 700 RMK. After rebuilding both of them with less then 1000 mile on each. I got to looking at another way to enjoy the snow. We already ride bikes, so I saw this kit and found out you could demo them: (Grand Mesa Powersport Delta, Co tell Kevin Al told ya)
One ride and I was hooked. My wife was even more hooked then me. Here is a video of her first day. We can both hang on sidehills that took me years to learn how to ride. Her figure 8 in the video was in the first hr. of riding. The hill was small, but big enough on a sled that you would have to work very hard to carve one out. We ride the Grand Mesa and would love more info on Grand Lake. I like the idea of riding around town. Any info on Grand Lake terrain(tree riding) for snow bikes I would appreciate. We still ride are bikes with sledders they just don't like the sidehills with trees like we do.

last year was the first year i took my wife to the mountains during the winter (along with 2 other guys and their wives). i didnt think i would have as much fun as i did with the 3 women along, but it was a blast. it was fun trying to teach them basic techniques of riding in deep snow. it was also fun showing off and finally having someone to video :face-icon-small-hap .

i would never take her along on a trip with just the guys. it has to be a couple trip, like you are inquiring about. there is no way she'd go even 1/10th the places we do when its just the guys. the riding is more fun with the guys, but the overall experience with the women i did enjoy. i enjoyed it much more than i thought i would, and i she said the same. she liked it so much i found a sled for her to ride this year. renting at $250+ per day was a joke.

have fun guys/gals. wish i was closer to partake in the fun!

snowlovers,

You'd be disappointed in our cabin - no tv. It's not allowed.

I just realized I don't have any decent pics to post up. I'll have to get some.

Our cabin's not really a cabin, it's more of a custom home up in the mountains. It's fairly large with a pool table and a hot tub as well as a garage for 5 sleds. I think we have 12 beds or some ridiculous amount. We're about a mile from a Forest Service maintained plowed parking lot and snowmobile trailhead. It takes longer to get your gear ready than it does to ride to the cabin.

We never intended to have such a place, it just kind of worked out, and we sure enjoy the location! Our trailhead gets very little use so we have a whole lot of mountain to ourselves.

I ride with my wife most of the time also and we would be interested in riding with other couples or groups. She is starting to become more comfortable off the trail, she can usually follow pretty well but will be working to build up deeper snow skills like sidehilling and powder turns. We live near Fort Collins and ride Snowy Range the most often but also like to get to Grand Lake, Rabbit Ears, and Vail Pass. Would be up for trying other areas as well.

Anyone that might want to set up a ride, feel free to PM me on here

Hmm, we're supposed to come over and ride the red feather lakes region (which I know nothing about) with a couple that is new to sledding. Maybe we can meet up for that ride. Beats me where it even is I just know that they live in Fort Collins so I'm assuming it's around there somewhere. They have a condo up there.

couples who ride together

We are headed up to the flat tops sat. from the Buford trailhead some where around 11 or 12 oclock. If anyone wants to ride along PM us for our phone number and we can make better plans. Had about 4 feet last week when we rode and should be over a foot of new for tomorrow. Merry Christmas

I guess my PM feature is not working and can't figure out how to fix it so any riders just call our cabin # 970-878-4050 :noidea: Finally found where to change my settings on PM so it should work now

Wife and I are headed out to Grand Lake New Years weekend. I hear that a fellow snowester is bringing some newbie couples up with him to rent sleds...should be a fun.

Toni and I are staying at Historic Rapids and getting a dog friendly suite..we have 3 dogs and its cheaper to bring them along then kennel them.

Come join us, the more the merrier!

My girlfriend and I are going riding up in Grand Lake again sometime in the next week or two (open to riding Thursday or Friday, she works on the weekends), if any other couples would like to go along. Very easy groomed trails, nothing crazy. We all had an excellent time last time! :face-icon-small-hap:present::face-icon-small-hap

Went up on the flat tops today from the buford trailhead, Had 6 inches new at the trailhead and 18 inches on top rode about 30 miles and got tired. Will go back up sat to give it another go. Anyone want to ride call us at our cabin 970-878-4050 and we can set a time to meet, we usually head out between 11 and noon. perfect snow at the moment
