Coupla' rides on the Assault now...

....and the sled rips. We had a coupla days of fresh and now with the sun a good day for jumping and she's prolly the best stock sled I've ridden.

There is one caveat, however- I am a long-time Doo rider coming off a XP 800 mod and this Assault is the most "Ski Doo-like" sled I've been on. While a bit more nimble than the XP, there is definitely a "return to center" feeling that Cat and Poo guys may not like. I very much do, though.

Now, November needs to arrive so we can get this thing boosted.

from what i have read and have been told a couple of turns on the rear shock should take care of tha "return to center feeling'' and make the sled more flickable and lay over and stay there. I have the same sled as you and also have a 2010 summit 800xp... if this pro handles more like the xp than like the previous assaults i will not be a happy sleder...the only seat time is in the garage, still t shirt weather here:face-icon-small-dis

First ride on my Pro-Assault today...To each their own but in my opinion the XP and the Pro are absolutely nothing alike.

if my pro rmk handles like my skidoo i'll find another iq.

Coming off an 09 163, to me Polaris took everything I loved about it, times it by two and dropped 50 pounds. I haven't spent alot of time on an XP but I honestly don't think you can even compare them. Oh, and it's really narrow:face-icon-small-hap

I also hope they feel nothing like the xp or I will really regret getting rid of my d-8. I absolutly hate the way the xp feels, I am sure I could get used to it but why when I can get somthing that feels so natural to ride.

My son was riding a 2010 XP today and I was riding my new Pro.
We switched back and forth today and I can assure you that the XP and the Pro chassis is nothing alike. The pro chassis is simply amazing. I am totally blown away. The last Polaris I owned was a 1998 rmk 700. I believe that Polaris hit a home run.
By the way I have over 100 miles on my sled already!!:face-icon-small-hap

loosen ?

I know, we each have our own opinions. But, you could not pay me to ride a Cat or Poo previous to the Pro-ride. Front-heavy, sixties Cadillac forever hood, tip over and stay there sleds are not my cuppa tea.

I find it very funny that it took Polaris to make some brand-loyalists realize they enjoy riding a Doo;)

flicking a doo is a joke, they dive in the front when coming down and they don't side hill at all. that's the main difference between an iq or pro and a doo. i still have my xp summit so it'll be side by side with my pro for all comparisons, but my iq would out handle the xp all day long. weight comes in to play but the iq had balance the xp didn't.

Yeah those damn "tip over sleds" who the hell wants to side hill or ride in the trees anyways? And those hoods are a joke all those professional mountain riders must just like the style. I respect your opinion but calling a sled "tippy" and "long hooded" doesn't really hold much merit when mountain riding. Have fun in the flat lands.

Yeah, I am a flatlander, I don't know what I'm talking about, I hate trees and I can't ride.

This Assault does not ride like an older IQ or M, period. I am, in fact, praising this machine. HOWEVER- I am adding my $.02 for those who are in the market, but have not thrown a leg over a Pro-ride.

I don't take this brand-loyalty crap seriously. If you like the way an IQ rides- no skin off my nose. But if a buyer is expecting more of the same, he will be sorely disappointed.

DAMN... How was the landing! Nice to see your starting the season off nice and easy! :face-icon-small-win

Remember the Assult has a 2 to 2.5 inch wider ski stance with stiffer setup on the suspension. Look at comparing the Summit to the RMK.

I would have to disagree with you. I rode the assault for about a week last spring and I would have to say that it is like riding the iq but easer to get it to do what you want. I jumped on the new pro form a 09 assault and felt right at home this is because it acts like an iq and new what to expect form the chassis. There is very little change in the geometry of the iq to the pro in the front end making the two comparison to one another in the prediction on how the sled is going to act. The new pro acts like the iq in many ways it just is easier to maneuver and get the sled to do what you want and this is because the chassis is light and stiff. For the M-series I have not spent enough time on one to compare it to a pro.

the pro is fure sure a home run
