Counter-Steering Pendulum...plz help

Replacements exist?!! This news is too good to be true! Mine stopped working years ago probably from lack of use. Is this a simple bolt on? do I need to know how to weld? or does vacuum hold them on?...I am hoping for the vacuum option...

Old pelts are much easier to find - is it possible to recondition older pelts with some sort of pelt conditioner to restore their former usefulness?

Yep, you have to treat them just right. May take longer
They respond to a different formula than a newer pelt

I've recently gone back and forth on the beaver pelts concepts and have some extensive field testing feedback that might help. Keep in mind vintage of pendulum is 1974 and still in real good shape, been used pretty hard but seems to hold up pretty well.

Pre 1984 pelts: Seem to polish well for just few weeks - then they seem to lose their polishing ability? these pelt seem best to show of however??? I'v also noticed there liking for pendulum with a Rc 80-90 rating.

Pre 1974 pelts seems to be willing (with a able pendulm) to keep a better polish on the pendulum, this seems to always be true, I've been thru quite a few and the prerformance is pretty consistent. the lighweight version of this vintage seem to work a little better but the high mass version seems much more abundant and easier to find. These often come with extra's/options that you might not order.

Pre 1964 - this is where I've found some real suprises :D:D. The cougar models seem to compare well with the MILF version we've all heard of but come with less packaging which in the era of being green is really great and help us sledder look good with the huggers. This version seems to not require the protective coating like prior models also to prevent surface corosion on pendulum

My name is Detective Sandi Vigina, your manberries are stuck on a conveyor belt that is going no where. Now, I undestand that a greased up beaver pelt might get you out the door, but you need that pendulium to swing hard, not to break anything, so I suggest that TI and CF seems to be the combo. Good luck........:beer;:beer;

I think we went in too deep for pelt polishing, and should get back to the pendulum pivot. Focus here now, because there needs to be a stopper installed to keep the pendulum from swaying the wrong way. I don't care how well you counter steer if your pendulum sways the wrong way none of your buddies will help you out, unless their pendulum has swayed the wrong way also. Most likely you'll end up digging in so deep you'll hit dirt. Seriously if you get in that deep, It might stink to pull it out. I really believe you need a stopper on the pendulum pivot for best counter steer. Just don't put the stopper in the wrong hole eather

man i gotta get me some new beaver huntin techniques cuz the ones im usin now shore aint workin and i want to be at my best sleddin capability this winter. also upon months and months of testing, the manual polishing does not apear to have the same effect to pendulum swing as a good quality beaver pelt polish.

If I was in your boat I'd purchase some beaver peltage!

even an old rotten overused pelt is better than no pelt!

If you run into my ex-wife, ask her for my pendulums. I think they are kept in a jar in what used to be my garage.
If not, I think they are having a package deal with anti-trenching tracks at the Snow Expo.

Look out for the pelts that have a ring around them. They could be harmfull to your health

So I went into my sled dealer today to buy some pelt conditioner. The young girl at the counter said they didn't stock that product and she couldn't personally recommend any particular brand but she had heard that the synthetics worked the best. So I asked her where I could buy some and she sent me to the shop beside the adult video store. The older lady there new exactly what I was looking for and even offered to show me how to apply it. I had to get going so I paid for it and left and hope to try it out tonight

Porting your chaincase is a good weight loss trick that is an easy mod while your in checking your pendulum

Nobody here has mentioned the effect that cold temeratures have on your countersteer pendulum.
I have found that after an extended break in riding for lunch or whatever, the pendulum tends to retract back towards it's originating point.

You can keep your pendulum working properly by parking your rig next to a camp fire or even by taking it indoors, to a warming hut.
This will insure a properly operating pendulum that will serve the rider well while countersteering in the deep.

If you don't have access to a heat source then remember to warm up your pendulum gradually after a break.

If not, you could be highly dissapointed in the outcome.

OR

you could quit shaving your junk, then you'd keep em warm with the added benefit of being able to self polish while on the fly!

If your just a naturally fur free dude then I dunno man, maybe sprinkle some Avacor or Propecia on them pendulums!

warming huts pppfffffttt!! Polish on the fly is where its at!

I thought this was a thread about countersteering pendulums
I wouldn't begin to know how, or even which part of the pendulum a person would shave.
Are you talking about shaving as in "Shaving the head to increase compression"?
I would think you would have to shave it equally on either side so as not to throw the pendulum action off, thus affecting the true countersteering ability of the rider.
My previous comment was about keeping the pendulum warm during a break while riding. I do not ride in an area where warming huts are available but this forum is viewd by many riders who do so that particular comment was directed at them.

Go ahead...Ride with your over polished, poorly shaven, cold pendulum.
See if I care.

just don't say I didn't warn you. :D

cant purchase one if your a broke bastage like me, i hear some pelts are quite spendy even if you just buy the one time use model. i have a couple friends that have purchased some of those lifetime pelts/pendulum holders and man, they shure seem to be payin out the a$$ for them. doesnt look fun.

Countersteering is for amateurs! What you need to do is change your power band!

I think synthetics (of the silicone variety) work best to straighten the pendlum. It should improve pendlum pivot strength also.
If you can get the older silicone

all this talk has got me wondering, how do the lady sledders countersteer? last time i checked they were lacking a pendulum, well atleast the ones ive seen. so what would they use for there momenimum to help get the sled over...............as i was typing this i believe i just relized the answer to my question, its got to be the counterweights, set up hi to help make them a little more top heavy. does this sound right?

in this case it seems women should have no problem laying it over, seems right, but doesnt work in reality... i know one of the ladies that has some....larger conterweights, and she aint very good at laying it over.
