Ok, well my uncle bought a 98 summit 670 last year for an extra sled. He is wondering if it's possible to throw a different track under it without any major modifications. I looked up in the tunnel and if i remember right it didn't look like there was much room for more lug (has 1.5 now).

Just thought some of you guys here might have some ideas or suggestions. thanks:D

yah im sure the 2" will fit without any mods. i think they came with a 1.75?

could also get a pair of rail extensions and make it a 144 aswell.

not sure if the 98 has it but there might be a piece of aluminum that you can drill the rivets out of that will allow you to run a 2 inch track pretty easy. Im not really sure what the piece is called. But did that on my 97 back up sled

Yes the 98 had the tunnel protector plate in there too. Get that out if it's still there. Depending on if it hasn't been changed already and how stock it is, the 2'' could fit. In 98 they had the standard 670 Summit with 8 tooth drivers 2.52 pitch and a 2'' X 136'' track. The Summit X in 98 had the 9 tooth 2.52 pitch drivers with the 1.75'' X 136'' track. Some 98 X models you could "stuff" the 2'' in. More than likely you would have to drop and roll the chaincase for a 2'' to fit with this sled.

Had a 98 670 x, we put in 8 tooth drivers, rail ext., tunnel ext., and a 2x144. Made a huge difference, that little sled climbed well and ran for miles and miles with very few troubles. If you don't want to deal with the extensions you could use the 8 T drivers and a 2X136, especially if you are in an area where there are only a few really deep pow days a season.
