Cottonwood Pass???

Does anyone have any info on Cottonwood Pass. I need to get to Taylor Park but do not want to drive around if I do not have to. I am wondering how much snow is on the pass.

I drove through Buena Vista yesterday morning enroute to Leadville for some work and the Cottonwood "Closed" sign is up. I did not drive up to the parking lots so cannot validate any further. Some poor hunter, in what appeared to be a new truck, was turtled on the side of 24 adjacent to the prison. Roads were ice early morning but completely dry early afternoon. Safe travels.

Chaos

Friend of mine was @ St Elmo last weekend & saw sled tracks? Said there was only about a foot @ the trail head.

Has anybody been up to cottonwood to see how it looks, I was at marshall pass on atv's friday and at about 10,000 their was about 20 inches. I was hoping for a close ride this weekend.

no snow

was up at denny creek last saturday. there is a about a 4' wide strip of snow out of denny creek about 1" deep up the road. otherwise dry road and no snow to be seen. there were a couple of people up there trying it.

As of 9 am on 11/16..

There is 12" of snowpack in the Denny Creek Lot and we got about 7" of snow up top in the past week. Some off trail riding is starting to become available for the adventurous but there are a lot of stumps and rocks still out there. Last night we got about another 6" up top with 4" at the denny creek lot.

As far as Taylor you can get to the post on the main road but I took cow creek road the other day and will not do that again until it gets at least another foot.

They say that we may get some more in the next couple of days and I hope we get hit with a good one.

So riding on the roads and trails is good to go but and the off trail riding is starting to get there.. If you are looking to find the deeeep pow rabbit ears is where to go - but if ya just want to ride to the post or have a good trail ride there is now enough in the cottonwood taylor area to do that..

I was there last night. Untouched snow everywhere and snowing hard as we left aroun 9pm. Never seen the bowl before without a track on it.

Now dont you worry there were a few of us up there the past few days leavin a few tracks... :face-icon-small-coo..

The entire area got some much needed snow and there are plenty of folks filling up the denny creek lot to enjoy the new pow.

Finally! Do you think off trail riding is going to carry lots Of hazards? If not I'm heading that way on Sunday for sure. I'm just not positive of what area to try first. Dont get me wrong rabbit ears is fun but there is something about riding at 12000 feet then down to 9000 10 min later and it is huge open country the whole time. Oh and skipping I-70 is a HUGE bonus.
