Cottonwood Pass Questions

Hey all,
The wife and I are heading to Cottonwood for the first time next week. We are staying in BV for a few days and riding from that side. Where in town can I get a map of the area?
Also, what areas do you all recommend hitting? We like playing around, jumping, and climb a bit.
Any parking advice? Areas to stay away from?
Thanks!

If you are heading north toward BV you take a left at the main light in town. There is a sign that says Cottonwood Pass (CLOSED) pointing in that direction. Drive up till you can't drive anymore and that is where you unload.

St. Elmo is right out of Nathrop and has some great riding.

Stop in at Mt. Tech Yamaha and they can point you in the right direction

Do they have snow?

I was up there sunday and the snow is starting to get there. Still some land mines but they say this should be a good storm so we will see.

Parking was at avalanche parking lot on sunday but it is pretty much pavement and ditch riding until you get to denny creek (1-2 miles). That road needs snow bad! If you stay in the ditch you can avoid most but not all of the pavement.

Look into st elmo and if you go over the pass you are in Taylor and there are a bunch of options there.

Mtn tech Yamaha or Timberline Motorsports Arctic Cat for some directions Cottonwood is pretty good right now, still some rocks and stumps. Gets a little thin when you get to talyor park.

Havnt been up to Tin Cup yet. Cottonwood Pass is closed at Avalance Parking lot. Was there on Sunday. Then after is Cottonwood Hot Springs or Mt Princeton Hot Springs if you like to soak. Mt Princeton has new cabins that look real nice, out of town a ways though. But restaurant and bar.

There has been some slide activity up there.

Have Fun!

How thin are we talkin we are headed up for New Years at taylor park. Remmomend shooting up over through the pass by tincup?

Are the trails useable over there or is it really to thin to ride at all. Not to worried about a ton of off trail as I am gonna be fresh out of my sling and my surgery.

Trails are good to go, we packed em for the first time last sunday. With the snow that we have gotten, Taylor should be good heading up tword Spring Creek. Tin Cup should also be good. Have Fun! Suppose to get more snow. Merry Christmas

Cottonwood

We will be riding Saturday, December 27th, at Cottonwood. If you would like to join us we know the area very well and would love to show you around. We will be at Avalanch parking lot around 9:00-9:30. We have a dark blue Toyota Tacoma with a cab+ high topper and a white covered tilt trailer. We will be on a red M1 and green M1 Arctic Cat.

Thanks for the offer, but we were already gone when you posted. Hope you had fun. It was a bit breezy on Saturday, no? The wife and I had a great day on Sun. and rode out of St. Elmo on Mon. Still a bit thin off trail up there.

Man, the BV/ Salida side of TinCup pass looks like it would be awesome when there is good snow.

Anyone heading up Elmo/Cottonwood tomorrow, Saturday, Jan 3?

Think about heading up tomorrow and checking out Tincup Pass or area.
Just got my sled from shop tonight. It was stolen over 3 months ago, Pueblo Police recovered it 3 weeks ago, more or less intact!
