Cottonwood Pass or Leadville?

Looking to do a family run / shakedown run on Saturday the 26th. Usually we don't start riding until mid - late December so snow isn't an issue.
What do you think will be open by the 26th and worth the trip? don't want to drag the fam down to Wolf Creek. Just something a little closer.
Thanks

I would give you an answer but my crystal ball is in the shop for updates.
I have planned a trip to the Cottonwwod area after Christmas for going on 20 years. Most of the time it is good, a few times great and a few times had to cancel. I try not to plan trips ahead at all anymore, best way is for me to start driving when I get a call that it is snowing hard and 1500 miles later I am there just as it quits and hopefully a few feet on new.

Most years I'm either still fixin crap or no money to go but this year everything is running good and registered so it's looking good and I'm itching to go.

Just need to find some snow!!

As of this moment Leadville does not have much snow, there is some snow on the south side of Turquiose Lake and maybe enough up to hagerman for a road ride but that is about it. We were hiking up there today and there was no grooming around the lake.

bummer.
I was checking out sledcity and they were saying they were going to start grooming last week.
Sounds like Wolf Creek is the only place to ride on Saturday.

Thanks for the input.

Cottonwood is beginning to get a decent base, better than I was expecting. Couple more storms & it should be good. All seven of us playing on & off trail all day came home with no damage so nothing wrong with that.

Not to bad. You can actually get down to around Tin Cup with no problem on the trails, road becomes thin by the Forest Service station on the Taylor side on the road. Some tree pockets here and there. Its all good, was that you guys we meet up with in that small bowl? If so, I have the new M8.

I gotta head out to Cottonwood too. Saint Elmo SNOTEL is a turd. Supposed to be some weather coming through Thursday.

Yeah, that was us! Nice sled Zack. I'll touch base with you next time we head up. Living there I'm sure you know that place like the back of your hand.
