Anyone been to the Coq in the last few days, thinking of going on Sat, just wanted to know what the access is like with all that snow.

We were up there on Sunday, it was still snowing when we left around 9pm. The main roads were great, trails were freshly groomed.. And the bad news was the short section of FSR to the parking lot was 4x4 access only. With that said, time has passed since then, and the groomer was there to potentially remedy the situation. The snow up there was awesome! There is a bottom unlike most other areas around. I can't wait to get out there this Saturday and lay some tracks.

We had a good group out yesterday on snowbikes. The visibility was not ideal, and the snow wasn't picture perfect but it ended up being a great day overall.

I have noticed more and more people riding the Coquihalla area. The parking lot was stuffed with trucks and trailers.

Once a small distance away from the easier terrain, I noticed a complete lack of tracks. In an effort to expand your knowledge of where to go at Henning I am going to attach a gps track which if used carefully can help you get off the beaten track and go explore some of the areas that seem to be travelled very little.

A word of caution, this track was made by cutting corners and playing a bit. If your on a sled you will want to use this track for reference only.

You should be able to view it in Google Earth. Or on an android device using the app "MyTracks". On an iPhone the app, "MotionX" can be used. It also should be importable into a gps which takes a bit of reading the manual.

Well, for anyone who stayed home this weekend because the weather looked like crap, you missed out on some killer snow. The visability up high was horrible, but in the trees it was really good.

Not a single track in to superbowl today.. I didn't want to be the first one!

Anyway, just a heads up on the avalanche conditions that we saw today. There was ALOT of new snow, which on it's own is high risk, but nothing at all was moving in anyway which would alarm me. Then on the last run of the day on the way back down to the parking lot, we took the skier's trail down which we call berg trail. It probably has another name, but it's the one that starts right at the cabin and zig zags down to pipeline. Anyway the snow changed about mid way down and there was a layer to be aware of about a foot below the surface. It's from the recent rain. Up higher it didn't get the same rain, but about halfway up to the cabin there is a very icy layer that could potentially be a big deal if it keeps snowing. I took the liberty of removing the loose snow from the ice on my descent.

Overall it was a great day, and the season is not nearly over yet. Don't give up! There is more snow now than there has been all year. I'd say there was 2feet of fresh snow, sure it was heavy but it wasn't bad snow at all.
