Cops to serious?? story included

So in my town there is a street that at our high school everyone just knows as "Polygamist Lane" and tries to see who can get the most little kids to run out and throw stuff at you. So at 11 at night we drive down it, stop in front of their house and just honk the horn for about 5 minutes straight. Haha then it gets funny, about 20 little kids come running out of the complex throwing oranges at us, we don't even put the truck in gear, we just keep sitting there, laying into the horn. Finally we stop laughing and decided to leave. We are about home when all of a sudden 3 cops pull us over.

The way the treated us was an absolute joke, they yanked us all out of the car, yelled at us for bugging the polygamist, accused us for being drunk, and then sayed they had to search the truck for illegal substances. Now me or my friends have never had 1 drop of alcohol in our life, so we were just laughing at this point. Well about half way through the search i remembered i had my deer rifle behind the seat... cop goes crazy when he see's the gun, calls in back up. I ask him if having a gun was illegal, he says no, i ask why are you freaking out then, he says because it is probably stolen and talks like we are convicted felons, etc...

Overall they treated us like we were convicted felons, when all we did was honked in front of a polygamist house? sound like over reacting to you, lets hear your stories from when cops over reacted. Luckily we aren't in to much trouble because we are still just a couple weeks short of 18

I don't agree with this. Accusations of drunk driving and stolen firearms, which if were pursued could have led to much more long term repercussions for these two. Is honking a horn and being a brat, which they most admittedly were and do need to learn some respect, necessitate a ruined lifetime?

Plus, it sounds like a potential 4th amendment issue, which more and more instances are occurring. Who polices the police???

I remember when I was 17 and had $hit for brains too. Sitting in front of a person's house blowing the horn for 5 minutes and thinking it's funny? I can see you in 20 years blowing a fuse because the paper boy walked across the grass.

None of you were ever 18 and did dumb stuff for fun? I highly doubt that. They honked a horn at some polygimist's house. I am 32 and find that funny. LOL, and the mental pic of 20 kids throwing oranges.... ROFL. They didn't do anything really wrong and there was no need for the cops to do that. I bet the cops laughed at it when they left.

It might be called "Disturbing the peace" for honking your horn, not just a little bit, but for several minutes straight.

I think the officers did the right thing. The only thing they could have done better would be if they cuffed you idiots and stuffed you into the squad car, and then delivered you home to your parents. Maybe your dad would have whipped some sense into you.

Years ago someone was shot doing just that.....in CANADA..lol. The guy said he was being harassed and shot a couple of teens driving through his property honking and yelling one night.
Leave the polygamist alone. Good God, he's got more than one wife.......imagine....2 of them....or more....."When you gonna cut that grass?", "When you gonna fix my car"....lol

im 27 and if some kid was at the neighbors blowing on his horn for 10 min i would either beat the sh!t out of him or call the cops and he better hope its the cops this kid got off lucky discrimination is not funny no matter who its against

I can't agree with you on this one. it did not sound like they were arrested at all. Just treated like they treat others. Seems to me that a pair of 17 yr olds should know better and if they do it anyway then they should be man enough to take their medicine instead of whining like a little b &#%h schoolgurl.

hmmm, yep wonder how the "house"(which may or may not be polygimast, either way it ain't right to harass them) felt about being honked at when it's 11 pm by what appears to be a truck full of dumb aced punk high school kids. If someone pulled that chit at my house I'd be taking a bat to the truck not oranges.

Hell if I was the cop I woulda had you ride in the hard plastic seat just to teach ya a lesson.

So lets pretend that this was a normal house with normal folks...maybe your house. It's 11pm or 1 am and you have to work the next day at 6am, getting up at 4. You have a young baby who is a light sleeper and a wife who is exhausted. All the sudden some punk blows the horn outside for 5 minutes, not only waking you up, but the screaming baby and wife as well.

Your telling me that you would go outside and say, "that was some funny chit man"?

Xrated - IF I was a polygimist living in an area known for it I'd expect some sort of harassment. But you're right, I would be annoyed and not happy about the deal. The other way to look at it they could have been vandalizing my house and then I'd much rather them honk LOL. I get the point but don't see it as some horrible thing at 11pm. There are too many variables that can change that. At 1am I'd be a bit more pissed off if I had to get up at 6am. If I had a baby that was a light sleeper or a *****y wife I would be too. Thing is we don't know. Hell, maybe they all sleep with earplugs and didn't put them in that night, LOL.

Come honk at my house tonight. My neighbor will come out and you'll run away scared LOL. I wouldn't mess with him if I was Chuck Norris.
